Nixie
Shay comes and pulls me away from Dillon at about 2 pm. We were sitting in the library just talking.
She picks out my outfit and I get dressed then sit as ordered while she does my hair. She's putting it in a French braid. I love them but regardless of how many times I've tried, I have never been able to accomplish one.
"Perfect," she steps back and declares. "Come on, let's go."
We head downstairs to the dining room, but Shay keeps walking out the back door. I stop and bite my lips when I see the bonfire and tables out on the back lawn.
"Come ON!" Shay beckons me.
"I can't," I sob. "I can't go outside, remember?" I had no idea it was outside and so far away from the house. I just figured it was a different kind of dinner.
"Shit," Shay swears then comes over to hug me. "Just wait, I'll be right back."
I watch her take off at a run. I watch her gather a few people and begin talking animatedly. Then, I see Dillon sprint back.
"Goddess," he says as he runs into the dining room and gathers me into his arms. "I totally forgot you have to stay inside. I'm sorry, Sprite."
"I'll just go to my room," I whisper, holding on to my pain with a death grip. "You go. It's your pack."
"NO," he growls. "It's our pack and I won't leave you." He forces my eyes to his and then he leans down to lightly kiss them. "Shay came up with a great plan but it's a surprise for you. You go upstairs for just a few minutes then Shay will come get you."
"It's ok, I don't want to upset the plans."
"No one will care," he tells me firmly then pushes me towards the stairs with a soft pat on my butt. "The faster you go, the sooner we can fix your surprise."
Just as I am moving away from Dillon, my dad runs through the doors. "Come upstairs will me, Nix. I will keep you entertained."
"I don't need to be entertained, Dad."
"There's something I need to talk to you about anyway," he shrugs and takes my hand. "Please?"
"Fine," I huff and go with him.
"Am I in trouble?" I ask him when we are sitting in the living room of our apartment.
"No. I might be."
"Is Alpha mad at you because of me?"
He rolls his eyes, "Don't take everything on yourself, Nix. Believe it or not, I get in trouble all by myself."
I giggle then relax. "Ok, Dad, shoot."
"I have a girlfriend," he says in a rush.
"You do? Is she nice? Does she hate me? Why doesn't she live with you?"
"Whoa," he puts his hands up to stop the flow of questions. "Yes, she's nice. No, she doesn't hate you. She doesn't live with me here because I usually stay with her. She's more comfortable in her space than mine."
"So, do I get to meet her?"
"You already have. Her name is Lydia."
My eyes sparkle and I grin. "That's great Dad, she's super nice! You deserve someone nice after...wait, you have another mate? How does that work?"
