NOTE for the Author: Hi, thanks for reading. I appreciate your time. If you want to leave a comment I would be interested to know what you think. This is my first time I've ever let anyone read my stories. Usually just write them and file them away.
So, step one. Now, back to the story.
Nixie
"Are nymphs Fae?" I ask as we start on our way to my dad's office which was down the hall from the Alpha's office.
She makes a duck face, "I think so. Why?"
"I know about them. What about sirens?"
"Sirens? Like mermaids?"
I nod, "They are different races, but both are aquatic."
"Do you know one?"
I laugh, "You could say that!"
She opens her mouth, to demand an explanation when we run into Marin. She is pissed, more than normal, if that's possible. When she sees me, she charges at me. She catches me with her forearm to my throat and slams me against the wall.
I hear Shay yell but all I see are Marin's black eyes. I stare at them in fascination, thinking how strange. Distracted by her eyes, I don't start fighting back right away. When I do, I take a second to strategize how to free myself without killing her. But before I make a move, Dillon appears and rips his sister off me with a vicious snarl. "MINE!" he warns her, stepping between us, a wave of power rippling off him, making Marin cower.
"NO!" She screams.
He pushes his face close to hers, his voice dripping menace, "You have been warned, Marin. Touch what is mine again and I will punish you. I will not be as lenient as Dad."
"Argh!" She screams again then turns and runs off.
When she disappears around the corner, Dillon spins and pulls me into his arms, "Ok, Sprite?"
My smile is lopsided but genuine. "Thank you, Dillon."
"I will always protect you, Sprite."
I tear myself free from his hypnotizing eyes which have returned to their normal honey color, to see my dad at the door of his office, a satisfied smirk on his face. "You think you'll be able to handle her?" he asks Dillon.
Dillon winks at me, "Oh, I plan to handle her alright."
"Dillon!" I gasp, my cheeks heating.
He leers at me, his eyes full of mischief, "You gonna question that, Sprite?"
"Not at the moment," I sigh in defeat, truth is he has handled me just fine so far. Even if I was having my doubts about letting him continue to "handle" me before I saw Sebastian again or figured out just what else I was. "But does everyone know about this?" I made a waving motion between us with my hand.
Dillon shakes his head, "Only my parents and your father."
"And Shay, Kyle, and Marin," I remind him. I look around, "Where is Kyle?"
"Training," Dillon says.
"And what was that power coming off you?"
"Alpha aura," Dillon says.
