Sebastian
When the twin witches disappear, we turn and rush to our room. We find an unconscious Shay and no other scent.
"Scent cover," Dillon growls. "Get security coverage from this floor."
"Yes, Alpha," one of the wolves says and disappears.
"Get the doctor," I add, looking directly at another of the wolves.
"Yes, your Majesty," he nods and hurries off.
The doctor arrives and checks Shay over. "She's been dosed with wolfsbane, silver and something I'm not familiar with," he tells us, holding up a rag in a specimen jar. "It was held over her mouth and nose, judging by these skin burns, so she'll come to within a few hours."
"Do you need to watch her?" Dillon asks.
"No, she can just sleep it off." He assured us before asking, "Will you allow me to take the cloth and run some tests? I would like to know what else was used."
Dillon nods, looking from the unconscious Shay to me. "Do we leave her here or move her?"
"I doubt we will need the bed before she wakes." I snort at the idea. "I don't really see myself sleeping next to you without our mate between us."
He nods. "You're right, on both counts. Let's go check on the security footage. I'll link Shay's mother to come sit with her."
We walk to Dillon's office where he links into the files. The footage is useless. There is a shadow, nothing more. "He knew where the cameras were," I note.
Dillon nods but continues opening files. "But did he stay hidden the whole time?"
"So, does his knowledge of the camera locations tell us anything?" I ask after Dillon throws himself back in his chair with a growl.
Dillon jerks back straight. "It tells us he's familiar with all the camera locations. So, he must work in security. But that's at least a hundred wolves."
I shrug. "That's a lot less than the whole pack."
He grunts. "Good point."
"Well," I sigh, "maybe Shay is awake and can help us."
He nods and stands up and we head back to the room. "Hi, Mrs. Kennedy," Dillon greets an older version of Shay, sitting on a chair next to the bed.
She has a worried frown as she asks, "Is your Luna alright?"
"She's alive," Dillon tells her. "And we are doing everything possible to fine her."
She dips her head. "Thank you for caring for Shay."
"She's Luna Nix's Beta," I remind her with a reassuring smile. "Nix would kick Dillon's butt if we didn't give her the best care possible."
Dillon grunts, "Not just mine, Sebastian."
I shot him a quizzical brow and jerk my chin at Shay's mother.
"I won't hide she belongs to both of us," he links me.
"Thank you," I tell him then turn back to Shay's mother, "Nix cares for Shay so, as her mates, so do we."
"She belongs to both of you?" She looks from me to Dillon.
He nods. "Selene assured us it was meant to be."
"You saw Selene?" she gasps.
"No, but Nix's wolf told us Selene told her and..."
"She explained why Nix is different and why she has been gifted with two mates," I finish. "Don't forget, she can still shift," I remind Dillon. "You don't have to explain she doesn't have a wolf anymore."
