Dillon
I groan, a heavy weight on top of me. My eyes open slowly.
"Don't move," Jagger orders.
I obey, frozen in place as I relive the last few minutes. We arrived to find Becca standing in the field, no light, no sound. Just darkness surrounding her.
"You took your coven?" Sebastian hissed, seeming to understand the darkness around her. It billowed around her, cold but alive. Crackling with hate and anger.
Behind us, I heard Amber breathe in horror and Cora swear. Whatever Sebastian meant, whatever Becca did, defied more than just witch laws.
She cackled; the sound raising the hair on my body. "I will do whatever necessary to end her."
"You'll have to go through me," he told her.
"With pleasure," Becca spit at him. "I wanted you dead years ago but my hands were tied. If I killed you without a cause, your mother would end me. Now, I have a cause and your mother can only cry."
"Mother is more vengeful than you think, Becca," Sebastian scoffed. "I might not be her first born, but I am her favorite."
"It really doesn't matter," she told him. "Once I have my pitiful spawn back, I will control the entire supernatural world. I will be GOD."
Her hands raised and in an instant, Sebastian leapt between me and her. I felt the impact of something hit his body, throwing both of us to the ground. When he landed on me, I felt his death through the bond and I felt Nix's pain and anguish.
As I lay here, trying to decide on an action, I feel the bond with Nix change, grow stronger. "I'm coming," she links. "Becca will now deal with me."
"Don't..."
"Shh," she soothes, cutting me off. "I'm a goddess now. She will not win. I refuse to allow it."
I open my eyes to see Becca, trapped in a circle of light. Amber, Cora, Rafferty, and Lucan have formed a circle around her, white lights coming out of their outstretched hands.
I gently roll Sebastian's still body off me, touch my forehead to his. "I vow to always protect her for both of us," I whisper.
Before I even move, Nix is in the field. Her hair is incandescent and her eyes blue fireballs. "You dare take my mate?"
"I will take everything from you," Becca hisses at her. "I own you."
Nix scoffs, "You own nothing. You sought to own me, but your torture only made me stronger not weaker. I am not your playtoy, Becca. I am a GODDESS."
"You will not order me—"
Nix doesn't talk, instead she raises her hands. Light explodes out of her palms, so pure and bright my eyes slam closed. I manage to crack one open just enough to see.
Becca screams as the light pushes past the darkness surrounding her. "Pain might be strong, Becca," Nix tells her. "But love is stronger. You might have won, if not for Sebastian, Dillon, Dad, Jefferson, Oliver...I could go on, but you get it. I am strong because they and this pack love me. They are my family. You are not my family. You were never anything but a vessel for evil. And now," the light becomes even brighter then dies away. "You are nothing."
