Nixie
Jefferson leads the others into the conference room where Alpha Leo, my dad, Sebastian, Dillon, and I are waiting. "Gale, Amber, Rafferty, his brother Lucan and..."
I jump to my feet when the next woman comes through the door. "Sybil."
She pulls me into a hug. "Hello, my lovely."
"Sybil," Jefferson says. I can hear the warning in his tone.
"You in trouble?" I ask her out the side of my mouth.
She lifts her hand, her thumb and forefinger making a large c shape. "A little."
"How do you know her?" Sebastian asks. I glance behind me, shocked to discover Sebastian and Dillon followed me and I never noticed.
I look at Sybil. "Can I tell then?"
She grins and her eyes move to my mates. "I met her when she came to visit with Jefferson. I decided I wanted to keep her. I tried to get Becca to agree. It ended badly."
I giggle, "Interesting version but true."
Sebastian chuckles, his eyebrow arches as he gives me a look. "Did you learn it from her then?"
Sybil smiles back. "Don't blame me. She's been like that since birth. Ask Jefferson."
"Please don't ask me," Jefferson says. "Go sit down, Sybil. You can visit later."
I tip my head so I can see Sebastian and Dillon. "Sybil is Jefferson's cousin."
Rafferty and Lucan move to my side as Sybil retreats to a seat at the conference table. I take note of their expensive, well-tailored suits and how well they fill them. "It is a pleasure to meet you again, my dear," Lucan says.
My head tips to the side and my eyes narrow in thought. "I've meet you before?" I would remember meeting them, I'm sure. They are gorgeous with dark hair and piercing green eyes.
Rafferty nods and touches my forehead with his palm. I hear Dillon growl and Sebastian hiss, but my attention focuses on his hand and the warm energy flowing out of it into my head. "You're the magical mobsters." I remember as soon as his hand lifts, taking a shadow with it. They had come to the house only days after Jefferson left. I crashed into Lucan, and he'd helped me up then protected me from Becca's rage. I find it incredible to remember it all so clearly now. "Did you make me forget, or did she?"
Rafferty points at himself. "I did for your own safety, my dear. You heard too much for Becca's comfort. And we figured better us than her."
I nod. He has no idea Becca's methods to make you forget. I'd like to forget.
Lucan chuckles and explains, "We are leprechauns. Your mother owes us a lot of money."
My glaze moves up to the tops of their heads, they easily top half of the wolves in the pack. Not short or green, I note. But dangerous, I sense immense power beneath their skin. Sebastian and Dillon both wrap possessive arms around my body. I smile at the protective gesture. "Feel free to collect from her." I tip my head, my eyes narrowing. "Did she use your money to obtain the manuscripts?"
"She was supposed to obtain a manuscript for us, one about our people, not Greeks."
My eyes widen, "She did. That must be the one I could never translate. Can I see a sample of your language?"
Lucan pulls out his smart phone and then after few taps, shows me the screen.
"Yup," I nod. "That was it. I even tried Irish but only two characters matched."
