I slip out and go upstairs to my old bedroom in my dad's apartment.

Sitting down on my bed, I close my eyes and picture Dixon. His eyes always smiled; I remember with a smile of my own. With his face firmly in my mind, I will myself to him. "Dixon?" I whisper to the wolf chained like a dog with a silver collar and a short length of chain. Too short to lay down, I note. How very Becca of them.

He whines and I touch him. "Take it easy, friend. It's me, Nixie." His head comes up and so does his tail. "I'm going to get you out of here."

I look around, trying to understand where we are. Aside from the rusty metal door, the room is solid concrete, stained with age and...other things. My nose telling me more than I wanted to know about the origins of the dark stains. There are more wolves here, I can smell them. Most are rogue, but not lost. Their scent remains clean, lacking the putrid stank of a true rogue. And I smell a few pack wolves.

I sigh, leaving them is not an option. If I remember from the law book Luna insisted I read, any pack wolf must aid any other pack wolf in trouble provided their packs are not at war. I am not a wolf, and I don't care about laws. I care about them regardless of their pack affiliations. Having lived as a prisoner, I will not leave anyone to the same fate. This must be some supernatural fight club, but that didn't give them the right to harm unwilling wolves. "Come with me, if you want," I say loud enough for all of them to hear, then push myself and the willing wolves back to my room.

"Nixie!" my dad bellows, throwing open my bedroom door with a bang.

The dozen naked males in my room bristle and push me behind them.

"STOP!" I command through the haze of testosterone. "It's Dixon, dad. I saved him and...his friends?" The room bursts into laughter.

My dad stands in the door, staring at the twelve laughing wolves in disbelief.

Dixon pushes himself to stand in front of my dad. "Beta." He bows his head.

"Dixon? What happened?" my dad asks.

"May I explain?" another wolf speaks up.

"Alpha Jakob?" my dad chokes out.

He nods. "She saved us...who is she?"

"She's my daughter," my dad says between grit teeth, his eyebrows cocked.

I chuckle at his obvious displeasure at me. "Choke it out, dad."

"She is also Alpha Dillon's Luna," my dad says. "Who is currently looking for her."

I snort at the threat. "We needed to find Dixon." I wave my hands. "My way was the fastest."

"I don't suppose your way provides pants?" Alpha Jakob asks.

My hands come up and my fingers spread open. "I don't know but it would be handy, huh?" I stare blankly into space for a minute and a stack of t shirts and sweatpants appear on my bed. "Good?"

"Thank you, Luna," Alpha Jakob smiles at me as they all dress. "Now, Beta, we need to talk to Leo."

"All of us?" I squeak.

My dad snickers, "Busted."

My face swears for me. Dixon laughs at me. "You are the Luna?"

"Not yet," I say through gritted teeth.

"She's Dillon's. Mated and marked," my dad tells them with a smirk.

"Blame Oliver," I wink, willing myself not to blush.

"Actually," my dad points out as we all head to Alpha's office. "It was Marin's fault."

Dixon freezes and my hand moves to his shoulder in comfort. "I'm sorry, Dixon but trust me, you are better off. Your second chance will be a million times better. So," I lean close to whisper, "relax, she's not here. Alpha sent her to the convent." His muscles relax under my palm.
