Dillon
She is not letting grass grow as she immediately goes to find Jefferson. His routine puts him in the pool, giving swimming lessons to the pups. Nix suggested the idea, giving Jefferson something positive to do and helping the pups out with an important life skill. More proof of her Luna nature.
While not as gleeful at her upcoming embarrassment as Sebastian appears to be, I am curious how she plans to ask. If it goes south, I will remind Nix if she can read a page out of her mother's protected grimoire, she should be able to get what she needs from Jefferson without his help or knowledge.
"Hi Jefferson," she starts with a wide smile.
He pops out of the water and looks her over. His arms come up to cross over his chest. "Nixie?"
"I need to talk to you...privately," she pleads.
I see Jefferson stiffen then half close one eye as he watches her. "Why?"
She huffs. "Obviously, something private."
He snorts. "You forget I raised you, Nixie. I know all your tells."
She leans forward, her eyes darting between myself and Sebastian. "Don't you dare spill the beans to them."
Jefferson chuckles and his arms drop to his sides. "Why don't I go shower and dress. We can meet..."
"We can meet in my office," I fill in. It guarantees complete privacy.
Jefferson nods in agreement and heads into the locker room.
Nix moans and stomps out of the pool, all the way up to my office where she flops onto the couch. She stays down maybe thirty seconds before jumping up and pacing around my office.
Sebastian takes the chair next to the couch, his eyes glittering. Clearly, he finds the whole situation humorous and plans to enjoy the show.
I sit at my desk, taking the free time to glance through the messages on my desk, trying not to let her stomping and muttering distract me.
Jefferson enters with a knock. "Okay, Nixie." He moves his head around until he locates her. "Calm down, Sprout," he says when he catches view of her eyes.
She takes three deep breathes then spits out in one exhale, "Colleen has Cara's spark, and I need her to give her body to Cara so I can find out who kidnapped me from the packhouse."
"Why not just get it from Colleen?"
I jerk, why had I not thought of that?
"I can't," Nix tells him. "If I hurt her the first thing she can eject or just lose is Cara's spark."
"So?"
"Becca has a spell in her grimoire to give a spark a new body."
Jefferson jerks his head around to pin Nix with a hard glare. "How do you think you are going to get that? She keeps it...Nixie Persephone!" he yells when she pulls out the paper.
"Sebastian transcribed it," she tells him, waving her hand with a flourish.
"From?"
"I read it, without getting anywhere near her."
"But?" Jefferson's arms come back up.
"I need something from a Tiercel to complete the spell."
