"I have a doctors appointment. Can we do later?" Elyssa asks through the phone. "There's a 7:15" Megan tells her. "Yeah. That one." "Ok. I'll get tickets," Megan says "hey, what's your doctor appointment for?" she sounds almost nervous. "Just a check up. I haven't been in a while." Elyssa clarifies. In all actuality, the appointment was for an ultrasound. Elyssa hates lying to Megan, but it's just too early in her pregnancy to tell her. "Oh ok. I was kinda worried it was something with your car accident." Megan admits. "Nah" Elyssa dismisses casually. "Ok. I'll text you later." She says before they both hang up. "Ready?" Jack asks as he slips his wallet in his pocket. Elyssa takes his hand, standing from the couch.
"Alright Elyssa," the doctor says as she takes the blood pressure cuff off her arm, "we're just going to do a quick ultrasound. But before that I'm going to take some blood for testing." Elyssa nods. Jack sits in the chair in the corner of the room. Elyssa gives him a little nod, seeing that he looks slightly nervous. Once the doctor takes blood, Elyssa lays down, lifting her shirt a little. "It's cold" the doctor says as she squeezes the jelly into Elyssas skin. She rubs it around, looking at the screen for a minute or so. "Alright. Looks like you are at 11 weeks. Uh here you can see baby's eyes and nose" she points out on the screen. Jack steps to the side of Elyssa, both of them looking. "You can hear the heartbeat too." "No shit" Jack mumbles in awe. He gently grabs Elyssas hand, a smile growing on her face. "We can print these out for you guys to have" the doctor smiles, moving the probe around a bit more. "Thank you" Elyssa hums.
"No way this is real" Jack opens their apartment door. "There's like an actual human baby in me" Elyssa jumps to sit on the kitchen counter. Jack stands between her knees, pressing a slow kiss to her lips. Elyssa hums with a smile onto his lips. "I love you" Jack whispers, their lips barely touching. "I love you" Elyssa kisses him again. He wraps his arms around her waist, kissing her stomach.
That night Elyssa and Megan see a movie. Elyssa is happy to spend some girl time, just the two of them, but she hates hiding something from her best friend.
