On the deck of the boat, I stood my ground between Uma and Raya. "Look, we're just sailors trying to find new land." I explained, my hand raised in a placating gesture. "You kinda sped through and destroyed our boat."
"We took months to make that." Uma added.
"What land are you from?" Raya demanded, not softening her gaze.
"Uh...Auradon?" I said.
"Never heard of it."
"Never heard of Auradon?" Uma repeated. "That's a new one."
"What's Auradon?" Boun asked.
"It's a lot to explain." I cut in. "But, we're not from whatever this land is."
"You're...not?" Raya slowly lowered her sword. "You don't know about the Druun?"
"Never heard of 'em." Raya sheathed her sword. "Are they like...Kakamora? Little coconut things, this big." I showed the size with my hands. "Deadly and will kill without a moment's hesitation?"
"No.""Huh. Well, I think as an apology, you take us on your trip."
"What?" Raya demanded."Yes!" Boun cheered.
"Are you crazy?" Uma wondered. "She tried to kill us." I looked to her, cutlass still brandished.
"They destroyed our boat, and Aunt Moana told us to expand our horizons so." I plopped into a seat on the table. "We're coming with you." Uma sheathed her sword and cautiously sat next to me. As the boat continued to sail, Uma and I watched as Raya talked over the side of the boat. We shared a look as a multi-coloured-haired girl climbed onto the boat. She seemed to notice us.
"Oh, hi." She greeted. "I'm Sisu."
"I'm Malie, this is Uma." I set my hand on Uma's arm as I spoke. Suddenly, Boun shoved Raya and Sisu into chairs, sliding bowls in front of all four of us and grabbing his pot and a serving spoon.
"Ok, who's hungry?" Boun asked.
"Oh, I am!" Sisu cheered as Boun ladled food into the bowls.
"Four house specials. How spicy would you like it?" Boun produced three bottles. "Hot, hotter, or Boun-goes-the-dynamite?"
"Bring on the heat!"
"Yeah, no." Raya pulled Sisu's bowl away from her. "No, I don't think so." Raya started to inspect the bowl.
"Uh, what are you doing?"
"We don't know him. It could be poison." Raya whispered to Sisu.
"Why would he poison us?"
"Yeah, why would I poison you?" Boun asked, having heard their whispered conversation.
"First, to get my jade purse, second, to steal my sword, and third, I don't know, to kidnap my Tuk Tuk." The large creature, Tuk Tuk, looked up in surprise.
"All good points, but if this is poison..." Boun took a mouthful of his own food. "You're gonna die happy."
"Yeah, thanks, but we got our own eats." Raya pulled out what looked to be jerky and yanked a piece off.
"This looks almost like stuff I'd get on the Isle." Uma commented, looking down at her bowl.
"It's food though, right?" I wondered as I pushed it around with my spoon. "We don't have much choice, I guess, after everything considering we're kinda lost."
"Kinda?" Uma repeated. "We're in like an entirely new continent."
"An undiscovered continent." I pointed the spoon at Uma. "Once we figure out how to get your crew off the Isle, we can live here without fear of everyone in Auradon wanting to wring our necks."
"Youd...leave Auradon behind?" Uma wondered softly as I started to eat.
"Yeah." I said after I swallowed. "I mean, Mal screwed us over, and I swear she'd chuck us on to the Isle when we step foot back there, might as well just relocate."
"...thanks, Malie." Uma and I shared a small smile.
