When it came to officializing their marital status, Yaeko and Yuzu didn't rush.
The skater had mentioned multiple times how much he wanted to marry her but between a small baby, Yuzu's shows, and Yaeko's attempts to get a teaching license, it certainly took them some time.
As many times as he had suggested proposing, her reaction always told him she wasn't fond of the idea.
It didn't mean that Yaeko didn't want to marry him and it was clear in their every interaction just how much she loved him.
So you could be certain that Yuzu was surprised when Yae dutifully informed him that she had asked his parents to watch over Haruki for the weekend.
"We're going out? Weekend Vacation?"
He had just finished another tour and could finally rest after long weeks of practice and planning.
"Yes... I was thinking... We could... Register."
"Register?"
He was a bit slow on that morning, unable to fully grasp what she meant until a beautiful smile settled on her face, one so hopeful that he instantly understood.
"Our marriage." She clarified, bringing an instant grin to his face. Yuzuru brought her close, kissing her lips passionately and forgetting about all of their obligations.
Hadn't it been for the obvious wake-up of their almost 1-year-old baby, he would have probably taken her there.
"I asked your mom for the weekend because I figured we could have the night for ourselves... You know... Somewhere else or even here without him."
It didn't take a genius to know what she meant.
Even though they had been intimate in the past year, it was definitely always rushed and worried. They had been interrupted on more than one occasion."I think that's an amazing idea"
So they did it.
Without much ceremony or planning, the couple just took the time to get dressed in anything other than sweatpants and headed to the closest government office.
The registration was easily fulfilled and it didn't seem at all romantic.
Not that any of it mattered when he made sure to spoil her in every single way possible.
Before she could even say anything about it, he was already on the phone. Yaeko quickly realized that he was booking a hotel room for them but he also made sure to place some distance between them so she couldn't hear everything.
Their marriage wasn't exactly the most romantic one but that didn't mean a thing when there was already so much love between them. The simplest of gestures could be romantic without even trying.
Yaeko didn't know it then, but like so many times before, Yuzuru made sure to spend all the money she deserved on their one night together.
He decided to book the best suite in the best hotel in Sendai and he didn't stop there. Once they arrived there and checked in, Yae would soon realize just how crazy he could be with the right motivation.
Champagne, strawberries, hot tub ready to go, flower petals all over.
It was possibly one of the cringiest things he ever did in their relationship but she would be lying if she said she didn't love it. For that one night, she would allow him to be like this.
It was for their first night as a married couple after all.
That's why he did it all, right?
She was impressed by the time she finished taking in all the sights around them. Her baby-free weekend had become a dream come true.
