Taehyung finally let Jungkook go—not because he wanted to, but because if he didn’t, he knew he would end up kissing him all over again, desk or no desk.
Jungkook slid off the desk shyly, cheeks still warm, lips slightly swollen.
The entire room felt thick with tension, but a sweet kind. Warm. New.

Taehyung cleared his throat softly.
“Let’s… get back to work,” he said, though his voice was still low, not fully recovered.

Jungkook nodded quickly. “Y-Yes! Work!”

He ran out of Taehyung’s office faster than a scared bunny, nearly tripping on his own feet.
Taehyung watched him go, smirking, leaning back in his chair as he murmured to himself,

“He’s too cute…”

The morning passed with Jungkook trying desperately to act normal—except his ears were red every time Taehyung so much as said his name.
Taehyung, on the other hand, kept sneaking glances at Jungkook through the glass wall. Every time he saw that small pout, that concentrated expression, those soft cheeks—his chest tightened in a way he still wasn’t used to.

Around noon, Jungkook timidly knocked on Taehyung’s door.

“Mr. Kim? Do you need anything? Coffee? Water? Life advice?”

Taehyung lifted a brow. “Did you just offer me life advice?”

Jungkook flushed. “I—I mean, you look stressed sometimes…”

“And you think you can fix that?” Taehyung teased, leaning back.

Jungkook nodded innocently. “Yes.”

Taehyung nearly choked at how easily Jungkook said it.

Before he could reply, his phone rang.
Mrs. Kim.

He answered immediately. “Eomma?”

“Taehyung-ah,” she said brightly, far too excited for a normal day. “Come home early today. We have something important to discuss.”

Taehyung’s brows furrowed. “Important?”

“Yes,” she said calmly. “Your father and I decided. Tonight, we are going to meet Seona—Mrs. Jeon.”

Taehyung straightened. “Why?”

“To ask for Jungkook’s hand, of course.”

The pen slipped from Taehyung’s fingers.

“…What.”

“We can’t wait forever,” Mrs. Kim continued. “You clearly like him. He clearly likes you. And I love him. So we’ll formally ask his mother.”

Taehyung rubbed his forehead. “Eomma—this is too sudden.”

“Well, you should’ve thought earlier. Now come home early. And bring Jungkook home early too—he needs to look presentable.”

Taehyung’s heart skipped. “Eomma—”

She hung up.

Taehyung just sat there for a second, staring at his phone, unable to process the speed at which his mother was moving.

Marriage.
Jungkook.
Marriage.

He dragged a palm down his face.

Then he pressed the intercom button connected to Jungkook’s desk.
