The wind has gotten more dusty the last few minutes. After waiting a little while, the team see a group of people walking toward them on top of the train. All their faces are covered in cloth, protecting them from the dusty wind. They move to make room for the group, filling up the back sides on the cart. Sitting in a sort of U shape, the sand is higher in the middle and lower at the edges of the cart, it lets them lean on the edges.
When the group has taken a seat they see you coming behind them, but now with two kids. They peak up in curiosity when they recognise the girl that yelled to Ethan as her dad. They watch you sit down on the other side of the cart in the corner. The boy has a red bandana and goggles covering his face completely, to protect him from the sandy wind that's about to get worse.
Your family all have red bandana's to be more easily to locate in a crowd. Jason is wearing a blue bandana, matching Molly's.
Then Ethan and Jason are walking toward the cart, but stop and starts signing to each other, discussing something before continuing. Jason jump onto the cart and looks at the strangers, he gives them a nod before sitting down beside Molly.
Ethan gets in the middle of the cart and yell to the guys a short explanation of about the dust storm, warning them it's only gonna get worse and last the whole night, and then that they'll talk more when the storm calms tomorrow morning.
Ethan hands you his bag and you turn to Molly who sits beside you with a cutting board. You start to go through what little food Ethan managed to collect. You pull up the last apple and look at him in dissatisfaction. He shrugs sadly and you sigh. Putting it down, you start to cut everything up for sharing. You give Molly the pieces and she hands it out to the group.
You turn to Ethan and give him the four pieces for your family. He takes three, but you hold your piece out for him to give your kids. Ethan gives you a look but you shake your hand, so he reluctantly takes it. Ripping it in half, he gives you one half and you decide not to argue with him anymore and take it.
He splits his own and gives your kids one and a half each, then takes the half of his own. He watches as Mia gives her half piece to her brother without Parker noticing. Ethan caress and kiss her head. Parker cuddle into his dad who has his arm around him, he snacks and suck on the apple pieces.
Edward had watched, he frowns sadly and looks at his other son. Jake glance at him with his mouth in a tight line. Then you come over to the team and they all turn to you. You hold up the cutting board and offer them their piece. Edward looks at the apples then at you, and shakes his head. He can't see your eyes, because you put on goggles to protect your eyes from the dusty wind. But he can barely see your eyebrows frowning in confusion. He then points, and you see him telling you to give it to your son. You look back at him in surprise. Ethan hasn't had time to talk properly with you, so right now only Jason knows who they are to him. He wasn't rushing to tell you, knowing you're stressed and has a lot on your mind.
You shake your head and offer him his piece, not wanting to owe anyone something right now. Edward shakes his head and refuses to take it, you then look at him and give a grateful nod. You put the piece to the side and offer the next one. Jake shakes his head and points to your family too. Now you look at him shocked, turning to look at the others they all nod encouragingly.
You then look over everyone and notice one of them with a cut on his arm. You go to him and look at the wound, then give him his piece. Charles shakes his head but you push it into his hand. He was injured and needed it, so he reluctantly took it. Then you take the rest back to your family. Ethan looks at you confused and then you just point at the guys and give him the apple pieces.
Ethan looks at them, his eyes landing on his father and brother, mouthing 'thank you' with a grateful look. They nod with a soft smile, looking at your family.
You go back with your backpack and sit down close to Charles. He looks at you confused as you start to examine his wound. Noticing his unsure expression, you write 'nurse' in the sand and point to the storm to try and tell him you should treat it before the storm gets worse. He lets you treat his wound, thanking you with a nod when you're done. You then go back to your family.
Soon the storm is getting worse faster and faster. It's hard to breathe, even with masks. You give Ethan's his goggles from the pack and then help Mia take hers on. Your group all pull out blankets from their bags and lay down, covering themselves. The others lay down to cover themselves as well as they can. Ethan pulls the blanket over while lying down to shield your family.
...
Early the next morning the storm calms since the train has gotten past it. Ethan lifts the blanket and checks, noticing the others also getting up. He looks at you and the kids. Mia sits up, but you and Parker are still asleep. He puts the blanket over you and sit up.
Ethan moves to the middle of the cart, facing his former team. It's still too loud, so he doesn't bother to yell. He takes an old drawing book from your backpack and start writing on the back of drawings your kids has drawn on.
He writes what's going to happen, the plan and where you're heading, with other necessary info, only asking yes or no questions and they nod or shake their head in answer. Mia comes crawling over and hug her Dad from behind and look over his shoulder at him writing.
Ethan takes a new page and writes something, then makes her sit down between his legs. He gives her the pen, but she shakes her head. She reaches for the pack and pull out the other pens, choosing another colour. He rolls his eyes with a chuckle.
After he helps her write her name, Ethan shows them the page saying 'This is my daughter: MIA'. They smile and nod to the girl that looks at them with a bright cute smile. Then he takes another paper, write on the back and let Mia write the names with the colours she chooses. Then he shows them the paper and nod his head in your direction. Reading the paper it says 'My son: PARKER And my wife: YN'.
They glance over at you with Parker in your arms, still sleeping, you both still had the bandana and goggles on. They were curious to hear about everything that has for Ethan happened since the apocalypse. His father and brother especially are watching him and his family in wonder, relived he's alive and happily surprised that he has a family. They don't know details yet so they assume that the kids are yours biologically, since the kids are both too old to have been born after they last saw Ethan.
