Confession

"I need to tell you something."

The next day, Ethan wakes Parker up a little bit before you wake up to get him ready for the day, before he has to head to work for the early morning meeting. You start to wake up and find the bed empty, sitting up in a haste you look around and are immediately met with the sight of Parker and Ethan. Ethan helping him get dressed as they try to keep their giggles and talking low to not wake you up. Glancing toward you, Ethan notices you're awake and abruptly stands up straight scratching his neck nervously.

"Morning. I.. I'm sorry, I just thought I could get him ready for you before I left." He tells you. "I realised I should've asked you first. I just didn't think of it until I woke up and I didn't want to wake you, so.. I.."

"It's fine." You reassure him, sitting up in the bed. "Thank you."

"Don't thank me please." He begs in a low voice while continuing to help Parker, as the boy was struggling to get his hoodie on. He didn't want to feel anymore guilty about this not being a normal thing for him to help out at home.

"Okay then I take it back, I guess." You chuckle, he looks at you with a quick grateful look before getting Parker down from the table and getting himself ready. "You're gonna be late." You state, pulling Parker up on the bed to your lap when he came over.

"I know, it's fine. I'll run." Ethan says, fumbling to hurriedly pull his uniform pants on.

He almost stumbles to the floor. You and Parker giggle. Once he's dressed for work he all but jumps at the two of you and kiss your head in goodbye.

"Love you, bye!" He says running out the door. Then comes back in a haste, startling you. "I'll be home, uh.. I don't know yet." He starts to leave, then turn back. "But I'll let you know as soon as I can! Alright?" He says as he starts running to the meeting.

You and Parker look at each other and start laughing. Parker starts cuddling with his teddy and you glance at the door with a smile on your face.

It's night again and after Parker falls asleep Ethan carefully gets up from bed and turn to you. Still sleeping, he bites his lip nervously and takes a deep breath, then gently tug to wake you up. Slowly you open your eyes, looking up you see Ethan and you frown.

"I'm sorry, uh.. Can we talk?" He whispers.

You frown confused and turn to Parker, he's still sleeping so you turn back to Ethan with a hesitant nod, mostly just confused. You gently move out of the bed and make sure you don't wake Parker. Ethan stands up and move to the other side of the room. It wasn't big so you were still near Parker in the bed, but it was better than whispering right by him.

"What's wrong?" You whisper as you stand beside him.

"Nothing, I.. I just.." He looks at you, seeming very nervously about something.

"Are you okay?" You ask reaching up to caress his cheek.

He closes his eyes and leans into your touch. Feeling your hand burning his skin and his heart beating faster. He takes a nervously shaky breath and looks at you again. He takes your hand and hold it. Reaching his other hand in the pocket of his sweats, he pulls out the necklace and puts it down in your palm. You stare at it in awe and surprise, it looked almost identical to something you used to wear, you loved it so much but unfortunately lost it.
