Yoko's POV

It had been five days since Enid's death, and in that short time, I had watched Wednesday unravel into someone I barely recognized. Her grief had turned into self-destruction, violent outbursts and a complete disregard for everything around her. Every time I visited her house, the mess was worse,,, broken bottles of whiskey littered the floor, blood stained her knuckles from punching walls, and her once sharp mind was clouded by an endless haze of alcohol. But what hurt most was seeing her cry, curled up in bed, clinging to Enid's old sweater like it was the only thing keeping her together.

Wednesday was no longer the cold, controlled woman I knew, she was someone drowning in pain, spiraling out of control because the one person who kept her grounded was gone.

Today, as I approached her door again, the sunlight streaming through the trees almost felt mocking. I brought breakfast with me, knowing she wouldn't touch it. The doorknob twisted easily in my hand, unlocked. She didn't even care anymore. As I pushed the door open, a sharp wooden knife flew across the room, narrowly missing my head and embedding itself deep into the doorframe.

"W-Wednesday? What the hell?" I gasped, my heart pounding as I took in the sight of her. She was drenched in alcohol, her eyes filled with a mixture of rage and grief.

She didn't even flinch. Instead, she stood, staggering slightly, and walked toward me. Without warning, she grabbed my collar, yanking me forward. She ripped the knife from the doorframe and dragged me outside, throwing me to the ground with more strength than I expected.

"Fight me, Yoko!" she screamed, her voice raw and trembling with anger.

"W-what? Why would I-" I started, but she cut me off, her words sharp and venomous.

"My wife is dead because of your kind!" Her grip tightened on my collar, her eyes wild with pain.

"Wednesday... we both know I had nothing to do with Enid's death," I said, my voice shaking, trying to reason with her.

"Don't say her name!" she shouted, her voice breaking. Her hands trembled, her grip on my collar unsteady, as tears streamed down her face. I could feel the weight of her grief in every word, in every action. Despite the danger, I felt nothing but heartbreak for her.

I took a deep breath, forcing myself to stay calm. "Wednesday... I'm just a clueless vampire who was raised by her uncle. I had no idea Ajax would have a descendant who happened to become a vampire. Everything I said was based on assumptions trying to make a sense out of it, but I never meant for this to happen. Alexander was the last of those who wanted to conquer humanity, to hurt,, your wife... and now he's gone, just like them."

I swallowed hard, knowing she wasn't listening to reason. But I couldn't leave her like this. "But if it'll help you, if it'll give you peace... then kill me. If this is what you need, I won't stop you." I released her hands, yielding to her entirely. "End it."

Her eyes still blazed with rage, and she gripped the wooden knife, her hand shaking as she lifted it, poised to strike. I lay there, watching, knowing she was capable of it in her current state. She was broken.

As she raised the knife, rain began to fall from the sky, despite the sun still shining above. It was like the world was crying with her. Wednesday froze, her eyes wide with shock as she looked up at the sky.

"E-Enid?" she whispered, trembling, her tears falling faster. She let go of the knife, and it clattered to the ground as she stumbled forward, arms reaching out as if to touch something only she could see. "Cara mia? Can you see me?"

I slowly pushed myself up, watching as Wednesday collapsed to her knees, her gaze still fixed on the sky, her voice filled with desperation. "P-please come back... Don't cry... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt Yoko," she sobbed, her hands trembling as they reached out to the rain. "Please, come back..."
