Ashley's POV

Whew!! It was finally the end of the work day. I couldn't tell you how badly I wanted to go home and cuddle with my pillow. It's just been a shit day. But first, I had to see what the hell my boss wanted. I just hope he didn't drag my day out just to fire me. I couldn't afford to lose this job, I fucking left America for it. I started to pack my things into my oversized purse, and headed to the elevator. There was no point in saying goodnight to my coworkers, they didn't associate with me anyway.

I looked at the buttons and hit the one with the Blue Eyes on it. I rolled my eyes, that is so childish. Thankfully the elevator was empty, so it took me straight up to the top. I walked out and was met with his secretary. "Good evening." No response. After a minute she followed with, "Name please?" What a bitch. "Orton." She looked at me and smirked. "Mr. Kaiba, Ashley Orton from Animation is here." How did she know that? "Send her in." Kaiba's voice gave me a chill down my spine.

He always had this effect on me, and I absolutely hated it. I slowly walked toward his office. It was like being stabbed in the gut with 100 knives. I just wanted to melt into the floor, or vomit. He was just so intimidating, he always gave me goosebumps. I opened his office door and stuck my head in. Kaiba was seated at his desk, doing work on his laptop, and was not even aware of my presence.

"Sit." Or maybe he was. I nodded quickly and made my way in, shutting the door behind me. His office was pretty damn nice. There were big couches, a loveseat and shelves stacked with alcohol. The only one that was nearly empty was the Jack Daniels. Didn't take Kaiba for a whiskey guy. I always thought it would be some expensive liquor I never heard of. The furniture was beautiful, it looked really expensive. What else would you expect from Kaiba though?

But the view behind him was priceless. You could probably see the entire town of Domino behind him. I wonder if he ever turns around to enjoy it. I quietly sat down in the chair in front of his desk. I didn't say anything, I was in "speak when spoken to" mode. That's how I felt I had to be with Kaiba. I've seen what has happened to those that tried to defy him. Not really smart. "I assume Mokuba told you about the project that I'm starting to work on. You'll have to come in for Saturdays and maybe sundays. It depends on how much work we need to get done. Meet in my office at 8 on saturday, then we'll go from there." He finally started talking. His eyes always dug into me. I felt a blush rise to my face and I couldn't help but sulk when I realize that he smirked whenever I do it.

"Um, yeah, and I think a dueling world is pretty cool, considering you're like the champion...em..just surprised that you haven't done it sooner. But why choose me to be a part of it? I don't even play duel monsters!" I went on babbling to him. "All of my leads are apart of it." "I'm not a lead though sir." Kaiba slid my I.D. Card over to me. I was pretty fuckin' happy when it said, "Ashley Orton- Lead: Animation." Hello pay raise! "Now you are." But words kept spilling out of my mouth. That always happens when I'm nervous. "But why me? I'm sure that there's other people in my department that are more than qualified."

He shook his head at me and rolled his eyes. "You're the only one down there that performs your duties effectively and efficiently. Why the hell would I give the position to someone who fucks around and talks about that ridiculous TV show?" It felt nice to hear a compliment from Seto Kaiba. That pumped me up a bit. I snickered a bit and answered back, "well if I fail badly, it's your fault." His eyes narrowed at me. "If you fail you're fired." I bit my lip and nodded quickly. The silence filled the room for one whole minute. It became a staring contest for him. He was smirking at me the entire time. I tried my best to avoid eye contact. This was fucking awkward.

"I'd really appreciate it if you stop coming in this building always looking like a pathetic little kitten." My head shot up and I looked him directly in the eyes. I hesitated before I answered but I ended up following through. "That's not an insult, kittens are cute!" "That's why I said it." Was that his way of hitting on me? I rose an eyebrow and he sighed. He started to elaborate.
