Chapter 20

Third Person POV

"I got their signal! It's coming from the..subway.." Kaiba finally got a hit from Mokuba's phone. Luckily for Kaiba, Mokuba had sent a distress signal before he was kidnapped. And it just so happened that Tristan stopped by a hot dog stand, located by the subway entrance. Sitting in Ashley's car, the two scarfed down their hot dogs, it was the only thing they ate all day, they had to twist Kaiba's arm until he surprisingly gave in.

Joey and Tristan looked at each other, the lightbulb shinning bright above their heads. "THE FUCKING SAFEHOUSE!!! GODDAMNIT WHY DIDN'T WE THINK ABOUT THAT?!" Joey screamed of excitement, grabbing Tristan's shoulders. "Shut up Wheeler! I'm redirecting everyone towards this location. I'm not leaving without them out of there and safe."

Kaiba begun to give instructions to the others through his phone, first by texting Thomas and Randy. However, he was surprised to see that Randy texted him first. Kaiba had given everyone prepaid phones. If Duke had somehow gotten all their numbers, he could trace them and find their locations. But prepaid phones could not be traced at all. Duke or anyone helping him had no clue where they were, that's why they retreated to their safehouse.

R: Tommy and I are already in. The subway on 8th. I'm fucking sick to my stomach.

S: What's going on? We're by the entrance. Making our way in when everyone else arrives.

R: We're walking down the subway already. I hear screaming. Can't tell who it is but everyone's getting a fucking cap in their ass

Kaiba snorted at that comment. He agreed 100%. "Who ya textin?" Joey asks, with a mouthful of hot dogs. "Randy. Your dad and Randy are walking the subway right now. I'm sure your mother taught you not to speak with your mouth full of food."

Joey just gave him a scowl but he knew that Kaiba was right. It was something that he told Amber all the time. But it was Kaiba chastising him, so he didn't care!

Soon enough, swarms of jeeps surrounded Ashley's car, the men geared up in military suits and machine guns quickly got out, making a barrier by the subway stairs. Tristan, Joey and Kaiba made their way out, guns ablaze.

Kaiba made his way in first, and saw that the subway was pretty much abandoned. One of his guys turned on a light, so that can safely trudge through the dark caverns. As they went forward through the murky area, the screams that Randy said he heard began to echo down the subway.

Kaiba's stomach began to churn as he recognized his girlfriend's scream. Still, the CEO kept a straight face as he moved down the corridor. "That's Ash. I think I'm gonna be sick!" Tristan cringed, seeing the worried look on Joey's face, but not a single emotion on Kaiba's. Tristan began to wonder if this guy cared one bit for Ashley and Annessa. Of course, he knew that Kaiba cared for Mokuba, everyone knew that.

Everyone moved silently down, until they saw a flicker of light just a few feet away. If Tristan hadn't noticed, they would've gone right past it. "Shhh." Joey pushed ahead of Kaiba, slowly looking into the hidden room.

The loud gunshot made them jump back, Joey nearly took a bullet to the head. Kaiba and everyone else immediately surged in, not wasting time to shoot.

The ganghouse just reeked of marijuana, alcohol, and just plain B.O. The carpeted floor held all the stench in them. The furniture were things that they found out of the dumpster, or a really shitty thrift store.The couches had holes and tears in the fake leather, the seats were wet, with..substances. The walls were solid concrete. It was out of pure luck that they could hear the screaming. The tv was literally something out of 1985, and it was playing some soft-core porn with the volume on low. Little bugs and roaches ran all over the floors because no one bothered to vacuum the place. Kaiba was disgusted with these people. This wasn't supposed to be a permanent hangout spot. This secret hiding place was supposed to be a place where they'd be safe until the trouble was over. Joey and Tristan knew what Duke's gang did to their victims down here, and they were hoping that Annessa, Mokuba and Ashley were safe.
