Ashley's POV

The car ride was silent. I wish it wasn't. That left me alone with my thoughts, and before I knew it, I was in tears. Joey's always been difficult, but never this bad. Now he didn't want me back at his house. It burns my insides because he was in the only family I had. Hell, he wasn't blood, but he treated me as if I were his own. That was ruined now, all because I wanted to defend the man next to me.

He pulled up to my apartment complex and parked right next to my vehicle. "You have an hour to get dressed." I wiped my tears away and gave him a hard glare. "For what?" "I told you, the meeting with-" "didn't you just fucking fire me?!" Kaiba rolled his eyes at me, getting out the car to let me out. "I wasn't being serious." "Well Joey has a broken nose and hates me because you weren't serious." I got out and walked ahead of him. "Good."

I marched on to my house door, slowly opening it and dropping my work purse. I really felt like shit. "Can't you get another date?" Kaiba made his way to my coffee machine, starting to make himself a batch. "You made a deal with me. Break it and you're fired." I sighed and headed over to my bedroom. My phone rang as I slipped out of my clothes and into a fancy black dress. I was expecting it to be Mai or one of the girls, but I was surprised when it was one of my coworkers, Sean, the lead for tech support.

The text read: you didn't have to be so blunt about it

What in the hell was he talking about? I replied with a question mark and kept on getting dressed. Before I started doing my make up, he replied. "The email Ms. Orton."

I was completely dumbfounded and decided to check my emails. I got in and Sean sent one this morning, asking if I wanted to get lunch after the meeting. I saw that I replied to him. I don't even remember getting this fucking email, hell, I don't remember replying!!

My "reply" was: No. I rather not.

My email was obviously hacked and I knew I had to change my passwords. So I quickly dashed into the living room to get on my laptop. We all communicated by email, the last thing I needed was some hacker stealing private Kaiba Corp. information. Duke wasn't smart enough to hack shit, he always made me do it when we were together. So obviously it wasn't Devlin. I sighed and quickly changed the password, then I closed my laptop and set it aside on the coffee table.

I met up with Kaiba in the kitchen. He was sipping his coffee, and as soon as we made eye contact, I glared at him. "What?" I crossed my arms and pouted, "you knew how I'd react to being fired, you knew I'd hurt him." "Get over it. I don't want to hear about this again." He'd rather me cause a scene to get his point across.

He went to move away, but I stayed right in front of him. Kaiba put down his coffee and made a pointed glare at me. I noticed that he puffed up his chest a bit more, he was trying to intimidate me. It ended up being a stare down, and he started to make me feel uncomfortable. I think that lasted about 30 seconds. He smirked when I broke eye contact, and then I noticed that he backed me up to the corner of the kitchen.

I was suddenly aware of my situation, his aura surrounded me, and all I can think about was how lovely his cologne is. Kaiba leaned down and our lips brushed each other. I tippy-toed and closed the gap, resting my hands on his chest. We kissed softly for a moment until He pulled away quickly, leaning to whisper, "we just don't have the time." "Fuck you, I'm still mad." He snickered at me, "I don't care."

My phone rang as Kaiba escorted me back to his vehicle. It was Mai.

A: Mai, I don't have the time right now

Auntie Ashley, it's me Amber.

Oh shit, I hope Joey didn't do some stupid shit. Last time Amber called on her own, Joey got drunk and got into a nasty fight with Mai.
