"Green!!" Rhea's tiny voice echoed in the hospital corridor.
Freen turned around, her heart stopping for a moment as she saw Rhea standing there. Without wasting a second, she ran toward her and scooped her up into a tight hug, kissing Rhea’s face all over. Freen anxiously checked Rhea's arms and legs for any signs of injury.
Sierra stood beside Freen, relief flooding her face.
"Rhea, are you hurt? Are you okay?" Freen repeated, her voice trembling with worry.
"Green, why are you crying?" Rhea asked softly, wiping away Freen's tears with her little hand.
"Rhea, where did you go? I was so scared... I told you to stay put!" Freen bombarded her with questions, still shaking from the panic.
"Green, I’m okay. See? I’m fine!" Rhea reassured her with a calm smile. "A man called me and asked me to give this to you. I came back, but you weren’t there. Then, the same man dropped me here," Rhea explained innocently, handing an envelope to Freen.
"Who was he?" Sierra interjected, her voice tense.
"I don’t know... Why are we here? Do you have a fever, Green?" Rhea touched Freen's forehead, trying to understand the situation.
Freen was still processing everything, lost in her own thoughts. Sierra took the envelope from Rhea’s hand, and when she saw what was inside, her face paled. She grabbed Freen’s shoulder, causing her to snap out of her daze.
Freen took the envelope from Sierra and pulled out the paper. Her eyes widened in shock.
It was a DNA test report.
"The alleged mother is excluded as the biological mother of the tested child."
It was a DNA report of Freen and Rhea. Freen stared at the words, unable to believe it—Rhea was her biological daughter.
Just then, Freen’s phone rang. The number on the screen was unknown. She picked up the call, her hand shaking.
"Congratulations, Freen. Rhea is your daughter," a computerized male voice taunted on the other end.
"Who are you? Come out and face me! What do you want from us?" Freen shouted, fury and confusion flooding her.
"Stop, stop, Sarocha. I’ve warned you multiple times to stay away from them. You took away my happiness in the past, and now I’m taking yours in the present," the voice continued. "Richee thought Becky was safe because he hid her well, but she almost died six years ago. I enjoyed watching your misery, seeing you all alone, thinking you could never be happy again. But then, you got close to Becky again, and I watched you with her and Rhea, so happy... How dare you be happy after what you did to me?"
The voice sneered, "I warned you twice, but you didn’t listen. Now, I’ll make sure you suffer again. Cry for me, Sarocha. Your tears will be my satisfaction."
The line went dead, and Freen, overwhelmed with rage and helplessness, threw the phone against the wall. Sierra looked at her, equally shaken, while Rhea stood still, frightened by Freen's sudden outburst.
Just then, Laura appeared, trying to calm Freen down. Moments later, the doctor stepped out of the ICU, all eyes turning toward him.
