"Where are you taking me, Jennie?" Becky asked, trying to pull Jennie's hand away from her eyes.
"Just trust me!" Jennie replied, grinning as she led Becky forward. Finally, Jennie let go, and Becky blinked, her eyes widening in shock at the sight of Freen standing before her.
Without a second thought, Becky rushed forward and hugged Freen tightly, burying her face against Freen's shoulder as she started to cry. Freen's arms wrapped around her in a comforting embrace, holding her close.
"Babe...I'm so sorry," Becky whispered through her tears.
Freen gently lifted Becky's chin, looking deep into her eyes. With a soft smile, she wiped Becky's tears away and kissed her on each eyelid. "Happy birthday, my love."
As Becky's tears began to subside, a man walked over, standing beside her. Freen let go of Becky and took a step back, her gaze flicking between Becky and the man.
"Happy birthday, Rebecca," he said with a smile, offering Becky a bouquet.
Becky gave him a polite smile and glanced over at Jennie, mouthing a quick "Thank you." She was about to take Freen's hand again, but then the man continued.
"Rebecca, are you free tonight? Let's have a dinner date," he suggested.
Freen's jaw tightened, and she looked away, taking a step to leave. Sensing Freen's discomfort, Becky quickly reached out and grabbed her hand, holding it tightly.
"I'm afraid I can't join you," Becky said, her voice steady.
The man hesitated, clearly disappointed, but began again. "But...," he started, before Jennie stepped forward with a firm look.
"She's taken," Jennie said, her voice cool and unwavering.
"I don't see any signs of that," he replied, his gaze challenging.
Jennie raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "Oh? So you want Becky to wear a sign that says, 'I'm taken'?" she shot back.
Becky, feeling the pressure rise around her, took a deep breath. "Mike, I'm sorry. I've been in love with someone for six years. I'm not interested in dating anyone else," she said, turning her gaze back to Freen.
The man's face fell, but he persisted. "Just one chance, that's all I'm asking."
Freen's expression tightened, and she turned to leave, pulling her hand away from Becky's grasp. Not knowing how to handle the situation, Becky quickly followed her, leaving Mike with Jennie.
"Can you please leave now?" Jennie said, her tone sharp, as she turned back to face him.
Outside in the parking lot, Sierra noticed Freen approaching with an unsettled expression on her face.
"What happened?" Sierra asked, concerned.
Freen's face remained stony. "Let's go," she muttered, climbing into the car without another word.
Becky watched as Freen climbed in, her heart sinking. Determined not to let Freen go without a word, Becky stepped in front of the car, blocking it from moving forward.
Sierra sighed, recognizing the tension, and got out of the car. Without a word, Becky took the keys from Sierra and slid into the driver's seat. Freen sat beside her, silent, her gaze fixed out the window. Without a word, Becky began driving, the silence between them thick with unspoken feelings.
