That evening, Zayn, Liam and Louis went to the Rose Realm. Zayn walked silently the entire time as he observed the place that was once his home which now looked like anything but an abandoned place with roses overgrowing everywhere. Everything looked abandoned but the palace. As the last time, this time around too the palace looked well maintained. Flowers bloomed, birds chirped, the butterflies danced around. They walked in to find the entire place bathed in blood. Zayn stood still as he saw his mother laying on the floor surrounded by a pool of blood. He felt like his 10 year old self again. Before he knew, Zayn's legs took him to his mother. He held her and began to weep. He cried and screamed as he hugged his mother close. Liam wanted to go hug him but stood still. He would hug him but he would do so later. Right now, it was important that Zayn felt everything he was feeling. Louis silently watched. He didn't know what to think or do. He was just going to do what Liam did.

The entire palace heard the crown prince's cries. They heard his pain, they heard his heart breaking. They could only watch just like the last time. But one person came close to him. The same person who came to him last time. King Evigheden. Hearing his son's painful cries, he came to them. Liam and Louis gasped in horror as they saw Evigheden's ghost approach Zayn. Liam immediately wanted to run and shield Zayn but Louis held him in his place.

"Let me go!" Liam whisper-yelled.

"That's his father, Payno." Louis reminded.

"But he's dead!" Liam said worried.

"He would never harm Zayn" Louis said but Liam shook his head.

"How can we be so sure?!" Liam asked trying to go to his Zayn.

"The same person who begged you to protect him will harm him?" Louis asked as he pulled Liam back making Liam go silent.

That was true. He would never hurt his son. Liam stood and watched silently but was ready to fight if needed.

Evigheden's ghost moved closer and stood next to his son. He stretched his hand forward and tried to ruffle his son's hair but failed as his hand passed through Zayn. Evigheden's heart shattered into a million pieces as the horrifying truth of him never being able to love his one and only child set in. The last time he was alive, Zayn was in his classes. He was seeing Zayn after 5 long years as Zayn had began to live in the campus along with Liam.

"Zayn?" Evigheden called out, his voice broken. 

Hearing his father's voice, Zayn looked up "Father!" Zayn said and stood before he tried to hug Evigheden but failed.

"I'm just a soul now, my dear. I cannot touch you even if I would give the world for it." The King said sadly.

Zayn started crying feeling more broken then ever. He looked at Liam and that was all that was needed for Liam to immediately cross the distance between them and take Zayn in his arms. Zayn hid his face in Liam's chest and broke down. Evigheden and Louis watched helplessly while Liam just kept holding Zayn and rubbed small soothing circles on his back. Soon exhausted from all the tears, Zayn fell asleep in Liam's arms.

"Is it safe?" Liam asked looking at Evigheden.

"Yes it is. Take him to his room. Nobody dares enter this place as they all know I guard it. Don't worry." Evigheden reassuared.

Liam nodded and carried Zayn to what once used to be his room. Just like Zayn, Liam knew the entire palace like the back of his own hand as he had spent a lot of time in the castle during their relationship. Liam gently laid Zayn down on the bed but Zayn kept clinging onto Liam as he had fisted Liam's shirt in his hand. Liam climbed onto the bed too and pulled the blanket over them before running his fingers through Zayn's hair as he gently massaged his head. Soon Zayn relaxed a little and loosened his grip on Liam's shirt and fell into deep sleep.

"If I may ask" Louis started making Evigheden turn to him.

"You want to know how all of this happened." Evigheden stated. Louis blinked in surprise wondering how the King had managed to figure it out so quickly and nodded.

"Betrayal." Evigheden answered with a grim smile on his lips.
