"Are you serious? Is that why you came here? Because they summoned me?" She asked, shocked. She didn't want to show that she already knew that she would be summoned. Aaron was very clear when he said that she must keep everything discreet. That was why she thought to act very shocked when the news would get to her about the summoning.
"Unfortunately, we have to leave now. That way you'll be there even before they are seated. It'll help you prepare to have them." He said.
"Why are they summoning me?" She asked.
"They want to know how much you've progressed. It will help them to make a decision for you to either quit now that there's still some time or for you to go on, seeing that you haven't really gone far, " he pursed his lips together.
"Let's just go." He said.
She picked up the parchments and put it in a bag she had seen hanging by the wall. Justice eyes didn't leave the bag. She looked up at him,
"We can get going now."
He tilted his head a little to the side with a questioning look, "why do I feel like you're not even bothered about the fact that you will be summoned by the council of werewolves?"
She quickly searched her mind to come up with something to tell him so that he doesn't catch on to her act.
She chuckled nervously, "of course I'm anxious but," she leaned into him and smiled,
"This isn't my first rodeo." She said,
He only nodded and then led the way out of the workshop and led her to the palace. They walked through the great hall and then to the council room. The council members were just walking in one after the other.
Just as they took their seats. Aaron walked in majestically with a glowing robe and loose black pants. His hair was sleek and perfectly laid back. Mia felt her cheeks heat up but it was in embarrassment as he didn't even spare her a glance. He took the high back beautifully designed seat. Miram walked in afterwards and took the seat next to him. It was on a lower stair.
Mia stood awkwardly next to Justice at the entrance.
"We are gathered here to find out about the progress of the crafts she-wolf, Mia." The announcer called.
Miram smiled coyly and spared Aaron a side glance.
"Let's see how far you've gone Mia." She thought to herself.
"Let's get started now, shall we? Call in the she wolf." The oldest Alpha ordered.
"Now is your time." Justice whispered in her ear as she stood there nervous.
"Mia, walk in and face the council." The announcer called.
Mia walked in with her feets suddenly feeling very weak like all power has drained from it. She didn't expect that the Nyx pack would be more organized and more powerful than the shadow pack. That was what scared her above all else, the way the power was shared and not centralized.
"Isn't that supposed to be a good thing?" She thought.
"We hear that you have an agreement with the Alpha, Aaron. Is that correct?" The oldest asked.
She looked nervously at Aaron before swallowing hard and answering, "Yes- that's correct."
"Good, and can you restate what the agreement was?"
She could feel Aaron's eyes boring a hole in the middle of her head as she stood in the middle answering the eldest member of the council.
"I am to design a form of currency that will make the Nyx pack more powerful, reduce the potentiality of having enemies caused by wars and being able to exchange this currency for materials which will be needed to make a weapon even stronger than our kind." Mia responded.
Her eyes temporarily rested on Aaron to see if he was impressed by the answer she gave but he didn't show or display any emotion. He just sat there watching and waiting. It was only making things worse for Mia because she could feel how very tense the atmosphere was and Aaron's stoic expression wasn't really helping matters.
"And how long were you given to do this?" He asked.
"Just three weeks." Mia responded.
They looked at themselves and murmurings ensued between them.
"I hope that you realize that a week has gone by and you're currently in the second week. Tell us, what have you been able to achieve?"
This was where the pressure was on. Mia didn't know if they would like what she had to offer and if she did, Justice, her new found friend would see her as a liar and a traitor for having to hide it from him and lie to his face. She didn't know what to do.
She looked at Aaron one last time and she saw something flash in his eyes. She couldn't grasp it because it was only for a split second but she took it as a sign for her to go ahead and damn the consequences that came afterwards.
Miram on the other hand, had a very confident coy smile playing on the corner of her lips.
"Go on and show us what you have done. If we see that you have made progress, we will support you." The oldest werewolf stated.
Miram's father scoffed, "or perhaps, you're silent because you have nothing to show of your work."
"No." Mia spoke up.
This caught the attention of every single werewolf present. Aaron leaned forward in his chair and Miram's smile slowly dissipated.
Mia brought out the parchment and unwrapped it. She let it roll down and it revealed a very simple but beautiful design.
It was in the form of a raindrop in the middle of a perfectly drawn circle.
"The blue raindrop will be what the gem would be made to look like and the gemstone we will use which I have seen is abundant in this territory is the blue diamond and it will be engraved within a circular carved out bronze, a precious stone which is also very abundant within this territory." She paused.
"So here's the deal, if you were to be under attack, make sure to protect this territory because if you do not, then you will lose all the abundant mineral resources that make you a powerful territory."
They all stared at her, surprised.
Aaron stood up and began to give her a round of applause. The rest followed except for Miram who was boiling with rage.
