"Meeting dismissed." The announcer called and all the council members began to leave the council room one after the other.

Miram stayed back talking with her father. They were both whispering in very low voices. The other members couldn't hear because  they were all too preoccupied with what had gone down at the meeting.

Aaron was seething with anger after the meeting was dismissed and his eyes were fixed on Miram and her father.

"What were they talking about?" He thought.

He was too angry to concentrate on what they were saying. He got down from the high seat and walked up to both Miram and her father.

"I would like to discuss some things with your daughter in private." He said with a perfect and stable poise.

One cannot notice that he was brewing on the inside because of how composed he was looking on the outside.

Her father turned around and grinned slyly.

"How is the preparation for your mating ceremony with my daughter?" He asked

Aaron inhaled slightly with his eyes closed before responding,

"Why are you asking me that now? It's been many weeks since we last discussed that topic."

Miram moved to his side and looped her hands around his arm.

"Come on love, father just wants to know. He's been busy all these while. Don't be such a grouch." Miram said.

"She's right. I've been very busy with a lot of work." Her father said.

"You've not been Alpha ever since I took your place. So tell me, what exactly have you been busy with?" Aaron asked.

Aaron could see that his question offended both Miram and her father but while Miram's father maintained a perfectly composed demeanor, Miram's anger was evident on her face.

"Well Aaron, I hope you don't forget that Mia would be summoned by the council. She also has to know that all the council members are aware of her agreement with you. That way she'll realize that she has to be serious." Miram said purposely.

Aaron smiled coyly, "you don't have to be so paranoid Miram. I'll let her know. I'm sure that she's preparing as we speak."

"Oh well, I just said that I should let you know once again. More like a reminder since you're both forming some sort of relationship." She said loud enough for her father to hear as well undoubtedly as a few more council members who were still present in the room.

Aaron looked around but no one made any sign like they were bothered about it but he was sure that soon the matter would be brought up by the council member.

"Is that true?" Her father asked.

He could no longer continue with his composed facade. His voice was laced with anger as he asked Aaron if what Miram said was true.

Miram saw that he was about to talk and quickly added sarcastically, "of course, it's only just friendship I'm sure. He can't breach the agreement that he made with you. He will make me his mate and his Luna and our bloodline will continue."

Her father looked at her skeptically and also looked at Aaron who remained silent.

He sighed, "Aaron, you made this promise in front of the whole werewolf council. That was the criteria for you to become Alpha since you were nothing but a stranger, a newcomer in the Nyx pack."

He leaned closer to Aaron and said sternly, "don't even think of breaking that agreement or double crossing me."

He straightened his back and arranged his rumpled clothes before smiling at his daughter,

"I have to go now sweetie."

Then he looked at Aaron and gave him a slight nod of his head before walking away in the opposite direction to the door.

Aaron grabbed Miram by the hand through the door to his chambers. He closed the door behind him and roughly pushed her forward so that she fell on his bed.

"What do you think that you're doing Miram?" He asked furiously.

"What are you talking about?" She asked, acting oblivious.

"The stunt you pulled."

She stood up and arranged her dress. The she composed herself,

"Well, I just wanted to make sure that you stick to your end of the bargain. You're an Alpha, it's your responsibility. Don't complain now. And as for my father, you heard him. You will mate me and no one else. It's settled." She said and walked out.

Leaving him alone.

Miram walked to her room and shut the door tightly behind her and sighed. She called a guard who came into her room.

"Get me Celia." She ordered.

She went to her table stand and gulped down a glass of water that sat there. Few minutes later, Celia walked into her room.

"You sent for me?" She asked.

"Yes. Tell me, has she made any improvements?" Miram asked.

"She just kept looking at the piece of parchment. she seemed lost in thought." Celia reported.

Miram scoffed, "Aaron would be so disappointed with how  things will turn out for the both of them. In the end he will have to go to war and there's a lot of possibilities that she might get caught in the middle."

"Really?" Celia asked.

Miram turned to look at Celia and smiled slyly, "she will be summoned tomorrow noon. She will then be asked about her progress and of course she will have nothing to say. Both Mia and Aaron will be embarrassed. He made a mistake to put his trust in that whim."

Celia scoffed, "for tonight, there's no way she will be able to come up with anything before noon. She's dumb. She just kept staring at the blank parchment. And since that's the case, I'll retire tonight."

Miram's head abruptly turned to Celia's direction, "you can't possibly think that you are done with your duty? I need to with her every second of every minute of every hour of every day."

Celia looked shocked, "you know that isn't my job. If you wanted that you could have simply asked one of the Beta guards."

Then she walked closer to Miram,

"Or better still, you could have asked Justice. I'm not blind, I know what's going on between you two." She said and left.

Leaving Miram dumbfounded.
