"Dear Alpha, you shouldn't have done what you did to Miram. What if she goes to tell her father?" The old adviser asked."Miram is for me to handle and for your information, I am the alpha now. Her father has been disposed as one so, stop telling me about her father like I should be afraid of him. If anything, they should both be afraid of me." Aaron said calmly.
He was not perturbed by Miram's outburst. It somehow scared Mia. They haven't lived together for a very long time and it seemed to her like he's very changed now and that the Aaron she knew while she was still a little cub, has disappeared.
He turned to Mia, "now, what do you have to say?"
Mia's swallowed hard, "i am saying that instead of raiding them, we can simply try to work with them. We can call them in a meeting and set up an agreement."
"What sort of agreement?" Aaron was very intrigued by what she had to say.
"I don't know. You should maybe try to have some kind of leverage against them." Mia said.
Aaron sighed, "I guess Miram was right about not listening to you. In the end you didn't produce anything important."
He moved to stand up. It was then that something got into Mia's head.
"Jewelry." She shouted.
Aaron stopped to listen to her. He relaxed into his seat.
"Go on." He instructed.
Mia took in deep breaths.
"There is one way you can make an agreement with them but it's a lot of work." She said,
"I'm listening."
The moment he said those words the old advisor took out a quill and began to write down what Mia had to say.
"For you to have an agreement, you have to have leverage over them and there is one way. That way is wealth."
Aaron's eyebrow furrowed as he tried to understand what she was saying.
"Not many packs have what you have, which is jewelry. I've seen how it is used in this territory to design the dresses. I've been to a lot of territories and trust me, they have never seen anything as beautiful as it."
"So what are you proposing?" The adviser asked.
"It can be used as a medium of exchange. You give them the gems you use to make the jewelry and they give you their mined minerals for the creation of the weapons that you desire to make."
The look on Aaron's face was like that of an impressed king. But Mia was too nervous to really register the look on his face.
"But we can't give them the raw gems. That's like giving them the secret of our wealth if at all we will be using it as a source of income and wealth." The adviser said.
"Yes we can't and that's where I come in."
Aaron looked intently at Mia.
She had planned something and saw this as the perfect opportunity to carry it out. She has already registered the fact that no one liked her in the Nyx pack and so she had to guarantee her safety.
Her eyes momentarily met Aaron's and for that brief moment it felt like he had taken a glimpse into her soul and so she looked away. She still reacted to him so much so that it was unbearable and sometimes she wondered if he felt the same way she did.
"What can you possibly do? You're a nobody as long as we are concerned." The adviser said and it sort of hurt Mia but she didn't show it.
She was determined to save herself and who better to do it than herself.
"I can make the designs that will surely earn you massive income throughout the whole werewolf Kingdom." She said,
Aaron scoffed, "I know what you're trying to do Mia. You're trying to play smart so that you can guarantee your safety in their pack."
Mia raised her chin up, "well, if that's the only way I'll be able to survive then yes, I'll do it."
The adviser seemed to be confused by what was going on between Mia and Aaron.
"You have never made any designs out of the gems and you've never seen it so tell me, how do you possibly think you can make any difference. In the end, war is inevitable." Aaron said, looking very intently at her.
He wanted to break her, to make her feel like she's lost within the palace and that she needs only him to survive but Mia knew in her heart that she could not trust him so easily. He was as good as a stranger to her.
"I will learn how to. I just need you to teach me to draw and to pen down my imagination."
"We don't have time for such irrelevant things." Aaron said.
"It's not irrelevant. I just need time." She argued.
"And just how much time do you need?" Aaron asked.
"About enough time to learn and gather a few things and make sure that I am perfect. I can make any mistake if you want to really make a ton of wealth out of this." She paused.
"Think of this, you'll be one of the most, if not the only, wealthiest Alpha of our time and will go down in the history of werewolves as such. You will have the arms and the wealth that will make you to be feared and revered even as a god which is not very common for us werewolves who only believe in the moon goddess and her powers." She finished.
Aaron waited for a while and then stood up from his seat,
"We don't have enough time that you require. Give me a precise date or else, we will go to war."
He looked at her when he said those words and that was because he knew exactly why she didn't want the Nyx pack to go to war with the shadow pack. That was their home. Where they grew up.
Mia realized now that Aaron has no atom of feeling for even his own home pack where he grew up.
She was resilient and stood her ground, "give me three weeks. Please, that's all I need."
He scoffed, "when that three weeks is over, a war will happen and you may be caught in the middle."
"Agreed."
