HOW HARD CAN IT BE?

Mia headed back to the craftsman's workshop with a deep scowl on her face. She pushed open the door and stomped inside.

"How's your health now?" She heard a voice ask her from behind her.

She sighed and lowered her head, a bit tired of the way they invaded her privacy.

"I'm not sure any of you from this pack understands what privacy means." She said dryly and headed to her stool where she would sit to work.

"Hmm, I'm taking it that you have gotten used to it already then." Justice said and walked out from the shadows where he was resting his back against the wall at a corner in the workshop.

"I wish I had." Mia said and lowered herself to the wooden stool.

"You don't look so happy for someone who has just woken up from the dead." He remarked and came to stand beside her, leaning against the table in front of her.

"Can you really blame me? To think that I came to this pack in search of a cure to my curse, only to be met with-" she paused as an exhausted sigh escaped her lips.

She used her hand to rake through her hair as she tried to calm herself down. She wasn't feeling very good talking about everything that was going on with her.

"But you can't go back the way you came either." Justice said, voicing out her thoughts.

"Sadly, I can't." She said with a heavy heart.

She then sighed and then looked at him, "I thought you were maybe angry at me and that you won't want to be friends with me anymore because I didn't tell you that I had already come up with a design."

A smile appeared at the side of his lips, "well, I was a bit shocked. I mean, I thought we were already starting off as really good friends."

Mia bit her lips, "I understand but then I just wanted to keep myself safe. And see, I was just poisoned." She said and let out a dry laugh.

"You don't trust me, do you?" He asked,

"I don't trust anyone at this point. Not even myself." Mia said as she looked the other way.

There was sadness in her heart which seeped into her voice as she said those words and she didn't want Justice to see it.

"Hmm, but I can't say you feel the same for Aaron." He remarked with a low voice,

Mia's head turned back to his direction,

"What- what do you mean?" She stammered,

"I mean, you trust Aaron. I've seen how you both talk, so casually. I don't think that's normal for strangers unless you already trust him so much." He elaborated,

Mia blinked her eyes as nervousness swelled up inside her, "it's complicated."

She was struggling internally if it would be right to tell him about her relationship with Aaron or not. She wanted to trust him but she had been hurt too many times in her life to just start trusting anyone easily, much more, his gender. They have dealt a great deal of heartbreak and pain to her.

"He's the one who brought me into the pack so it's natural that I would think he's the best one to ally with and I didn't tell him anything either. It's safer for me if I keep everything I'm doing a secret for now. That's the only way I can guarantee my safety in the pack." She said this and then remembered that she was just almost killed, "I mean, at least now, he is going to keep me safe, until I'll be done with the whole currency thing."

Justice nodded, "I should leave you. You have got a week and some days left. If you're not able to come up with something then, it won't be just your life that would be at stake but everyone you're trying to protect. The worst part is that they aren't aware that you're working this hard to keep them safe."
