I sit with Sadia on my left and Isabella on my right at the cinema hall, watching the new bollywood movie, Sadia was dying to watch.
I personally find it a bit too dramatic. My thoughts are being repeatedly interrupted by what gift should I get for Ouahib.
It's our one year anniversary and I want to gift him something special. I've convinced the girls to go shopping after the movie, but I still don't have an idea what to buy.
Uggghh! It's so difficult! I don't want to get him something regular, I want it to be special, just like he is.
The big gift, which I have been safekeeping since two weeks is well hidden in the basement, but I want to get something more to symbolise us.
"Awwww," Isabella and Sadia cooe beside me and I'm snapped back to the current scene on the screen. The couple finally reunited and they're sobbing in each others embrace and the male lead was teasing the female lead.
I sit up straight. "Is it over?" I ask and the two give me a narrowed look. What?! Can we get out of here, please! I want to find something, to gift my husband.
I shrug and they huff out a breath, before gathering their stuff. I look forward and find the movie had really come to an end. Thank you Allah!
Following the girls out into the bright sun, where we had to squint a little, due to the shift in brightness, I finally muster up the courage to speak up and ask them for advice.
"Girls, I have a question. But don't laugh at me and please don't tease me, alright?" I put my hand forward as if asking them do for a favor.
They grin at each other knowingly and then back at me nodding. "We might actually know what you are about to ask." Sadia mischievously starts and then Isabella adds, "The little self made pictures album with little captions is a really cute idea for the first year anniversary gift."
I smile gratefully at them and in the next moment I'm engulfed into a bear hug, from both of them.
"OMG, you've been married for a whole year?! I can't believe it's been so long!" Sadia exclaims happily, pulling away from me.
"I know, right?! Like Aaliyah, a married woman is another vibe tho. Always shying away at the mention of Ouahib and all and then spending a whole day with US to think about what to gift HIM!" She stresses on the two words making me blush. She wasn't wrong.
"I can't believe it myself," I confess. A whole year since our Nikkah! It feels so new and always so surreal, subhanAllah, that I can't fathom it's been a year.
Alhamdulilah for having him as my husband.
"But girls, how did you know-" they didn't even let me finish my sentence and answered, "The way you were always switching between an album and watch inspiration on Pinterest, duh!" Sadia was the one to cut me off.
