Two Days Later – The Kim Family House
The Kim family was in the middle of another playful morning. Felix was cracking jokes at the table, Hyunjin was teasing Yuri, and Chan was cooking breakfast, laughing at his siblings' antics.
“Felix, I swear you should just become a comedian,” Hyunjin said between bites, shaking his head at his younger brother’s dramatic retelling of some bizarre event.
“I would, but I’d miss tormenting you too much,” Felix winked.
Yuri piped up, “I bet I could be funnier than Felix oppa any day!”
“Yeah, you keep thinking that,” Chan replied with a smirk, flipping pancakes.
Everything felt light, fun, and normal. Sol even cracked a small smile, finding warmth in the atmosphere. But just as she was about to say something, a loud BANG came from the front door.
Everyone froze for a moment. The sudden noise broke the bubble of warmth and laughter, and all eyes darted toward the door. A boy stood there, his imposing figure casting shadow into the hallway. Sol's breath hitched in her throat the moment her eyes landed on him.
It was him.
Her body froze, the color draining from her face as if life itself had slipped away. Her hands trembled at her sides, fingers gripping the chair until her knuckles turned white. Her heart pounded so hard it felt like it would burst out of her chest. Everything in the room faded away—the sounds, the laughter, the warmth. All that was left was the cold fear suffocating her.
Sol blinked back to the present, her body still rigid with fear. The man at the door looked at her, confused. His sharp features softened for a second, clearly wondering why his own sister looked like she’d seen a ghost.
“Is it... me?” he asked, scratching his head. “Did I scare her? I know I can be intense but…”
Felix stood up, trying to diffuse the situation with his usual humor, “Well, you do have the face that could terrify small children or any old man. But don’t worry, she’ll warm up.”
But Sol couldn’t hear any of it. The trauma still gripped her like a vice, her mind flashing back to the blood, the screams, the knife. She hadn’t moved an inch, her eyes locked onto the man as if she was staring down her worst nightmare.Sol’s body swayed, her legs giving out beneath her. Before anyone could react, her eyes fluttered closed, and she crumpled to the ground.
“Sol!” Felix shouted, rushing over to catch her just before she hit the floor. Panic surged through the room. Hyunjin and Yuri were at her side in an instant, Felix shaking her lightly to try and wake her.
“What happened?” Hyunjin asked, his voice rising with worry. “She was fine just a second ago!”
Yuri, her phone forgotten, knelt beside Felix, “Call the doctor! She’s... she’s not waking up!
Before anyone could even move, the door creaked open further, and the boy responsible for Sol’s reaction stepped inside. Changbin.
“What's going on?” Changbin’s voice was deep, rough around the edges, his dark eyes shifting between Sol’s unconscious form and his panicked siblings.
Felix, already frazzled, pointed at him, “What’s going on?! YOU! That’s what’s going on! She saw your face and passed out!”
Changbin looked genuinely baffled. He raised his hands defensively, “I just got here. How is this my fault?”
“You walked in, and she literally dropped!” Hyunjin added, clearly flustered. “What did you do to her?!”
“Are you serious right now?” Changbin’s brow furrowed, frustration creeping into his voice. “I didn’t even say hello yet!”
