Before placing Sol on the bed, Hyunjin had already instructed the maids to change the mattress and clean up the room. Once everything was taken care of, Sol was carefully settled in. The maids swiftly cleared the mess, leaving the room in order.
A few minutes later, the doctor arrived, and soon after, her entire family gathered in the room. Hyunjin stood by the doctor as he explained Sol’s condition seriously—her fever, weakness, and the stress she was under. Sol remained asleep, unaware of the concern surrounding her. Hyunjin's jaw tightened, listening closely, guilt still gnawing at him.
"After the doctor administered the medicine and left, the family’s attention shifted to Hyunjin. None of them had been present the day before, and they were eager for an explanation. Hyunjin, with a heavy sigh, recounted everything that had happened the previous night—the lake, how he found Sol, and the state she was in. His words were calm, but the guilt was clear. The family listened in silence, their expressions shifting from confusion to concern as they absorbed the weight of what had unfolded.Afterward, the family quietly dispersed, each heading back to their respective rooms, leaving Sol to rest.
Except for Hyunjin, who refused to leave her side, everyone else had gone. He sat next to Sol, watching her peaceful sleeping figure, unwilling to leave until she woke up. As the hours passed, exhaustion caught up with him, and he eventually fell asleep in the chair, his last thought lingering, "I haven't received my punishment yet."
Time skip
The next day, Sol opened her eyes, finding herself in her bed. Stretching and yawning, she suddenly froze at the sight of an unfamiliar figure. Her mind raced as memories from the previous night flashed before her. She looked at her brother, Hyunjin, still asleep in the chair beside her.
Should I wake him? What would I even say? Her thoughts spiraled with uncertainty. Will he be mad at me? She stared at him, unsure of what to do, the weight of the situation pressing down on her.
As Sol sat there, the memories from the previous events began to haunt her, creeping into her thoughts like shadows. The emotions she had buried deep started to rise, her chest tightening with the weight of it all. Her other personality, the one she tried to suppress, began to stir, slowly taking over.
Her breathing grew uneven as the familiar darkness settled in. The fragile part of her started to fade, replaced by the colder, bolder side. No more weakness, she thought, as the other part of her mind whispered harsh truths, drowning out the confusion. She clenched her fists, her expression hardening.
Sol’s hand hovered over the drawer, her fingers brushing the cold handle of the knife. Her face was blank, eyes dark with resolve as she picked it up, her other personality in full control now. She quietly approached Hyunjin, her steps calculated, no trace of the girl who collapsed the night before. As she lifted the knife, about to place it near his neck, Hyunjin’s instincts kicked in.
In a flash, he opened his eyes and caught her wrist firmly. His sharp gaze locked onto hers, but what he saw wasn’t the fragile Sol. Her eyes were cold, detached, like a stranger had taken over her body. There was no fear, no hesitation in her stance, as if he was facing someone entirely different.
"Sol... what are you doing?" he murmured, his grip firm on her wrist, disbelief flickering in his eyes as he tried to understand the sudden change in her.
“Didn’t you say yesterday I can give you whatever punishment I want?” she smirked, letting the knife fall from her grip, clattering onto the floor.
“This is the second time in two days I’ve had to come out. If your intentions were good, why the hell did you say those hurtful words, you punk?” she sneered, pulling the chair down hard. Hyunjin tumbled to the floor, landing on his back with a groan.
