As the sun began to set, the house buzzed with activity. The smell of something cooking filled the air, but there was no sign of an organized effort—just a chaotic mess in the kitchen. Sol stood at the entrance, eyes wide as she took in the scene before her.The chaos in the kitchen was in full swing. Flour was everywhere, vegetables half-chopped, and pots were left simmering—somewhere between overcooked and undercooked
Her father, Soohyun, was holding a spoon and waving it around like a sword while shouting something about the "perfect balance of flavors." His expression was a mix of fierce determination and utter confusion.
"Soohyun, please," Jiwon, her mother, sighed, trying to keep the peace. "You're adding too much soy sauce. The recipe clearly says 'a pinch,' not 'the entire bottle.'"
Chan, stood by the stove, flipping something in a pan. He had a look of intense concentration, but a strange, somewhat suspicious smell wafted from the pan. He didn’t notice Sol’s raised eyebrow as he tried to salvage whatever disaster he had started.
“Is anyone going to help me?” Chan muttered, his face scrunching in confusion as he tried to understand the instructions written on the recipe card. “This is harder than it looks, okay?”
Yuri was seated at the kitchen table, looking at her phone with no interest in the chaos around her. Every so often, she’d glance at the disaster unfolding before her, only to roll her eyes and go back to scrolling.
Lee Know stood beside chan, carefully arranging what looked like a plate of sushi—or what he hoped would be sushi—staring at it with a mixture of pride and doubt.
“Chan, you’re burning it again,” Lee Know said with a sly grin, pointing at the pan that was now slightly smoking.
“I know, I know! Stop distracting me!” Chan snapped back, trying his best to salvage the dish.
Han, at the counter, was slicing vegetables with a knife that seemed way too big for the job, while Felix hovered nearby, eyeing the chaos in horror.
“Han, are you sure this is how you chop garlic?” Felix asked, watching as Han’s knife went straight through an entire clove in one swift motion.
“Of course!” Han grinned, tossing the garlic into the pan. “The more, the better!”
“Uh, sure, if you say so,” Felix replied, doubting his brother's technique.
Meanwhile, Hyunjin and Changbin were having an intense argument over who was supposed to stir the pot of stew.
“Let me do it! You’re stirring like you're angry at the soup!” Changbin argued, trying to take the spoon from Hyunjin.
“I’ve got it! You go watch the rice,” Hyunjin replied, pushing Changbin’s hand away with exaggerated force.
“You’re both hopeless,” Jeongin muttered from the counter, peeling potatoes with impressive precision, his eyes glued to his phone. “Just let Sol handle it next time.”
“Ah, please! We’re fine! Nothing’s burning—yetNo one knows what they're doing.”Sol replied, shaking her head at the madness around her. She had only just walked in, and she already knew how this would end. Her brothers had a knack for turning every kitchen adventure into a circus.
She walked into the kitchen, deciding that maybe, just maybe, she could salvage dinner. She reached for the knife to chop some vegetables but then paused when she heard her mother’s voice.
“Sol, don’t you dare touch that! I have it under control!” Jiwon called, though her own movements were shaky and uncertain.
“Mom, you said that 20 minutes ago,” Sol replied dryly, taking the knife and starting to chop the vegetables anyway. “I’ve been watching this for an hour. I’m pretty sure this is going to end up being a disaster.”
