Sol’s POV

As soon as I stepped out of the café, a wave of heat rushed to my face. I pressed my cold fingers against my cheeks, willing the redness to fade. It wasn’t like I didn’t know who they were—Saena, my other self, had already warned me. Someone had been looking for me. Someone other than my brother.

And now, I had just met him.

I let out a breath, glancing at the glass windows of the café. The so-called waiters? All his men. Every single one of them. Their movements were too calculated, their stares too obvious. They weren’t waiters, they were guards, spies—his people. And yet, sitting there, under his piercing gaze, I felt something ridiculous.

Butterflies.

I scoffed at myself. Aish, living with Yuri is messing up my head. This is exactly why I shouldn’t listen to her delusions. Even a stalker can feel like a romance lead if you stay with Yuri long enough.

The thought made me chuckle. If I told Yuri about this, she’d definitely flip. “A mysterious, handsome man watching you from afar? Following your every move? Tsk, Sol, that’s not a stalker, that’s a romance novel waiting to happen!” She’d then go on and on about how her ‘crush’ was better, dramatically sighing about her tragic, unrequited love story.

Rolling my eyes, I tightened my grip on my bag and started walking. I needed to clear my mind.

Wooseok.

The name itself held weight. He wasn’t an ordinary man—his presence alone commanded attention. The way he looked at me, so intense, so sure… It was like he had already decided something about me. As if I was already a part of his world.

I wasn’t.

I couldn’t be.

My life had always been one of hiding, of staying in the background. Being noticed was dangerous. My brother had taught me that much. Yet here I was, catching the attention of a man powerful enough to set up an entire café full of spies just to meet me.

I needed to be careful.

I exhaled, focusing on the path ahead. The streets were quiet, the city lights flickering against the evening sky.  After walking for a while I came to garden. The garden was peaceful, the soft rustling of leaves and distant laughter of children filling the air. I sat on a bench, watching as families played together—their laughter warm, their love evident in every small gesture.

For the first time in my life, I had that too.

A real family.

A mother who smiled at me with genuine love. A father who held my hand like I was the most precious thing in the world. Eight overprotective brothers who acted like I was made of glass, always shielding me from harm. And Yuri—my delulu sister, who, despite all her dramatic antics, would probably burn the world for me.

It felt unreal sometimes. After everything I had been through, after all the pain the Shin family inflicted on me, after all the nights I spent wondering why I had to bear such torment—this happiness, this love, it almost seemed… too good to be true.

Do I really deserve this?

I shook my head, pushing away the dark thoughts. No. I do. I deserve this happiness.

Just as I was about to lose myself in the warmth of my thoughts, a piercing cry shattered the moment.

“Amma… Appa…”

A child’s wail.

I froze.

My gaze snapped to the source of the voice, and my breath caught in my throat.
