“Angel, do you need anything?” Crowley asked as he peeked into the bedroom.
“I would like another book dear boy, I just finished reading the last one on the pile to Eden.” Crowley glanced at the small pile of baby books on the bedside table. Aziraphale had been reading to their newborn nonstop, despite Crowley often reminding him to get some rest.
“Sure, but you also need to get some rest.” Aziraphale had been through a lot these past three days.
Aziraphale grimaced which made Crowley practically fly to the bed. “Are you okay Aziraphale?”
“I’m fine Crowley….just a little ache…” Aziraphale passed baby Eden to Crowley so he could lay back down.
“I’ll make you some tea to help with your pain.” Crowley said as he walked away from the bed.
“Wait, don’t take Eden!” Aziraphale begged. “Let her stay….”
“Oh yes, of course…” Crowley gently placed the baby in her bassinet, which was right next to his husband.
“Can’t you stay too?” Aziraphale pleaded.
“Angel…”
“Just for a few moments?”
“Okay love.” Crowley relented.
The fathers’ gazed down at the little baby in the bassinet.
“I can’t believe she’s finally here.” Aziraphale murmured. “Our little Eden.”
“Yeah.” Crowley sniffed, getting emotional. It had been a rough three days, but it had been worth every moment.
“Do you know how special you are Little One?” Aziraphalewhispered softly. “There has never been an angel/ demon hybrid before, you truly are one of a kind my love….”
“And I’m glad that neither one of you exploded.” Crowley added. That had been his biggest fear, although made from the same stock, their attributes were so different that Crowley had been terrified that his husband and unborn child wouldn’t survive the pregnancy or the birth when the time came.
But despite all odds both Aziraphale and the baby pulled through.
Crowley was so proud of his angel that he thought he would burst.
“Felt like I would for awhile….” Aziraphale murmured, his blue gaze not leaving the baby.
“Which is why you need to get some rest Angel.” Crowley said as he hopped out of the bed, tucking his angel in. “You relax while I’ll go get your tea.” He gave his husband and daughter a kiss on the forehead and left the bedroom.
Aziraphale smiled from ear to ear when the little baby clasped his index finger in her tiny little hand.
Crowley returned with a steaming cup of tea and he set it on the bedside table. Both Aziraphale and Eden had fallen asleep.
Crowley sat on the bed and ran a hand through the angel’s blond curls. He shuddered at the memory of Aamon…..and what had nearly happened to his family.
“I won’t let anything ever hurt you my loves.” Crowley vowed, hoping that God would kept her promise.
“Ineffable.” He murmured as his husband and child slept peacefully.
