Eden tiptoed into her parents’ bedroom, once she made sure they weren’t having….well, you know…
The twenty four year old didn’t want to take any chances! Fortunately, the coast was clear and her parents were still fast asleep, snuggled against one another.
“Daddy! Papa! Time to get up! It’s beach day!” Eden exclaimed as she hopped on the bed, making her fathers’ jerk awake.
“Good morning dear boy.” Aziraphale murmured with a lopsided smile.
“Mnnh. Five more minutes…” Crowley moaned.
“Now love, we promised Eden we would go to the beach today.” Aziraphale said matter of factly as he sat up greeted by a warm hug from his daughter.
“Good morning my Little One.”
“I’m not little Papa!” Eden replied, frustrated.
“You’ll always be my Little One, now let’s go downstairs and get breakfast started.”
“Oi, wait for me!” Crowley said as he finally shot out of bed, wrapping his arms around his husband and daughter’s waists’ hugging them close.
“Don’t wade in too far Eden! We wouldn’t want you to fall off the dropoff!” Aziraphale warned as he watched Eden wade into the crystal blue water as he sat in his striped folding chair.
His gaze flicked to Crowley, who was lying on the piping hot sand, enjoying the warmth.
“Are you enjoying yourself dear?”
“Yeah, this is amazing…..” the demon murmured groggily, he was just about to doze off when Aziraphale said, “I guess I’ll have to reapply your sunscreen when you wake up.”
“Ngk! Do it now! I don’t wanna get sun burn!” Crowley exclaimed as he scrambled to his feet, sand flying everywhere.
“I thought as much.” Aziraphale replied with a wicked grin.
“Bastard.” Crowley muttered under his breath, blushing furiously.
Eden waded through the crystal blue water as she dipped her black and white tipped wings in the shimmering ocean.
Her feathers hovered in the water as if they were being blown in a soft breeze.
Eden’s wings dragging behind her as she waded a bit farther out, realizing that her unicorn floatie had floated away from her. It was a little farther than her Papa would have liked her to go, but it wasn’t that far out….
Eden reached out with a hand to grab the unicorn floatie when suddenly; a sharp stinging pain seared her leg.
She cried out and lost her footing, falling beneath the surface…..
Eden tried to claw her way back up to the surface but her feathers weighed her down. She couldn’t even flap them while she was under water. What was worse was that she was surrounded by a billowing red cloud which was coming from the stinging gash in her leg.
Eden couldn’t hold her breath any longer, water and blood began to flood her lungs, and her vision was beginning to turn black….
“Eden! Sweetheart, can you hear me?” Aziraphale demanded when Eden’s head was finally above the bloody water. She coughed feebly but didn’t answer, her head lolling against his shoulder.
They both had heard Eden cry out in pain and when they realized that Eden was nowhere to be seen….
“Shit shit shit shit shit shit!” Crowley swore as he followed Aziraphale to the shore. Blood was streaming from Eden’s left leg. She must have cut it on a jagged rock he surmised as he picked up her waterlogged wings.
“Nnngh.” Eden groaned. Her head was pounding….
“Little One?” said a voice tight with worry.
“Papa.” Eden rasped as she tried to sit up.
“Slowly, Little One, you’ve been through quite an ordeal.” Aziraphale said patiently, although Eden could tell by his demeanor that he wanted her to lie back down.
Eden took in her surroundings and realized that she was lying in a bed. They were at the beach house.
“Where’s Daddy?”
“He stepped out to get a few things so he could groom your wings.” Eden glanced at her wings, which were a mess. They were starting to dry, and were encrusted with drying blood and sand.
“Oh thank Someone your awake.” said Crowley as he entered the room, setting down the wash basin, comb and towels he brought so he could embrace his daughter.
“We were so worried Queenie…” Crowley’s voice cracked as he held her tight.
“I’m okay Daddy, it was just a little scratch.”
Part 4
“Where’s Uni?” Eden asked, realizing that her unicorn floatie was nowhere to been.
“It’s probably still in the ocean Queenie, I’ll get it later.” Crowley replied as Eden coughed, her dry throat screaming from thirst.
“Aziraphale snapped his fingers and a cup of ice cold water appeared in his hand. “Drink this Little One.”
As Eden drank Crowley ran a hand through her damp curls. “You really scared us darling.”
After Eden drank her fill and Aziraphale dried her hair, her parents wanted her to stay in bed for the rest of the day but Eden wasn’t having it.
