“Its morning its morning IT’S MORNING!” shrieked Eden as the six year old jumped on her parents bed.
“You daughter is awake….” Crowley mumbled as the six year old continued to chant and jump, shaking him awake.
“Before breakfast she’s your daughter.” Aziraphale murmured in reply as Eden finally stopped her jumping and plopped down in the middle of the bed.
“Daddy! Wake up! Let’s eat breakfast!” when she didn’t get a reply, she continued , “Do you think the carrots we planted are growing? Can we check after breakfast?! Do you think the other veggies we planted will be growing too?”
She didn’t receive an answer. “Daddy?” she poked him in the shoulder. “Daddy..”
“Daddy’s gonna get ya!” Crowley exclaimed as he threw off the blankets and lunged for Eden.
“DADDY NO!” Eden squealed with delight as Crowley chased her out of the bedroom.
“DADDY YES! I’m gonna get you little bugger!” Crowley chased the chubby, and deceptively fast, six year old downstairs.
“GOTCHA!” Crowley cried as he scooped up Eden and blew on her tummy. “You dare wake up the mighty Serpent from his slumber? You shall pay dearly! I will gobble you up!”
Eden’s wings popped up as she flapped her wings, “I will fight you bad monster!” A wing smacked him in the face and he fell to the ground dramatically.
“Agh you got me! I have been defeated!” Crowley gasped as he fell to the floor.
“I am not finished with you evil snek!” Eden wriggled from his grasp and then proceeded to body slam Crowley.
“OOF!” Crowley gasped as the wind was knocked out of him. “I surrender!” Crowley huffed.
“YAY!” Eden cried victoriously as she lay next to Crowley on the thick soft rug.
When they finally caught their breath, Crowley asked, “What would you like for breakfast today my sweet?” he gazed proudly at his daughter. Her dark red curls were a complete mess and her eyes we’re sparkling. He loved her so much.
“Scrambled eggs, bacon and blueberry pancakes!” Eden replied earnestly.
“What shape would you like them to be?”
“Stars!” Eden exclaimed as she and Crowley rose to their feet and headed to the kitchen.
“Papa, Daddy…” Eden asked, her face covered in sticky syrup.
“Yes Little One?” Aziraphale answered.
“Some new neighbors have moved here. The Fluffbottoms introduced me to them, they have a den not too far from the cottage…I’d like you to meet them.”
“We would like that very much Eden, but let’s get you cleaned up and ready for the day before you go out.” Eden shoved her last spoonful of pancake and eggs in her mouth and ran back upstairs to pick her outfit for the day. “Thanks for breakfast Daddy!”
“Well, I guess that’s my cue to leave.” Aziraphale chuckled as he got up and pushed his chair in. “Thank you for breakfast Crowley, it was scrummy.” He pecked Crowley on the cheek.
“You’re welcome angel.” Crowley replied with a goofy grin on his face as he snapped away the dirty dishes and snapped the table clean.
Crowley and Aziraphale we’re tending to the house plants when they heard Eden call for them outside, “Daddy! Papa! The new neighbors are here!”
“Go on angel, I’ll finish up here, be out in a second.” Crowley said as he sprayed a couple more plants. As Aziraphale went outside to meet Eden, Crowley snarled at the plants, “You better straighten up! Dropping a leaf on the floor after my husband cleaned it! I’m watching you fuckers!”
He whirled around when he heard a cry of surprise from Aziraphale and he dropped the spray bottle as he dashed outside.
“Aziraphale! Eden! What’s wrong?” Crowley exclaimed as he pushed the door open it collided with the side of the cottage with a loud slam.
“Crowley don’t-!” Aziraphale exclaimed but it was too late.
“Skunks. Why did it have to be skunks?” Crowley grumbled as he was submerged in the bathtub.
“You were the one who spooked them Crowley! Slamming doors like that…” Aziraphale retorted as he ran his hands through the demon’s soapy hair.
Eden sat across from him in the tub; she was playing with a couple of bath toys while she was waiting for her turn to be scrubbed.
“Paul didn’t mean too Daddy, he’s been really jumpy ever since his babies we’re born.” Eden said as she giggled at Crowley’s grumpy face. He didn’t like Paul although he did understand what fatherhood could do to someone….
“At least this solution is helping.” Aziraphale said as he rinsed the solution out of Crowley’s hair.
“But it’s going to take a lot of baths before the smell is completely gone.” Aziraphale and Crowley reoriented themselves so Crowley could scrub his husband’s pale white curls. They had not only been sprayed by Paul but also his mate, Rhonda and their five babies had been sitting in Eden’s lap….apparently the babies were old enough to spray…
“Come here Eden, I’ll go on and wash you off as Daddy washes my hair.” Eden complied and sat in front of Aziraphale who applied the solution to Eden’s hair.
“Eden from now on, please give us a heads up on what type of animal you’ll be bringing to the cottage.” Aziraphale said patiently as he scrubbed his daughter’s flame red curls.
“Okay Papa!”
