Evan:
Today is Barty's birthday, and after everything they've been through, Evan wants today to be perfect for his husband.
Husband
It feels strange to think of it that way, but he likes it, he loves it really, the fact that Barty is his husband, tied to him in life and death.
Before he sets up for Barty's birthday, he has a shower, he knows it can only be a quick one, but he always feels a shower is a good way to start the day.
He lets the water run as he undresses and steps into the warm shower, closing the curtain behind him and embracing the warm droplets that trickle down him, soaking into his skin, warming him from the outside in.
He tries to be quick, but takes the time to glide the soap across his body and lather the shampoo into his hair, letting any dirt wash away, letting all of his worries slip down the drain with the water.
After his shower he dries off, dresses and feels ready to tackle the day.
TO start, Evan places Barty's presents on his bedside table, he also sets up balloons around the room, he puts birthday banners around the room, he then grabs the both of them some breakfast, bringing it back to the room, and that's when he decides to wake Barty up.
Barty's eyes flutter open and his face breaks out into a wide smile that almost knocks the wind out of Evan's chest
"Happy Birthday, my love" Evan says, running a hand through Barty's hair, leaning down to kiss him.
Barty sits up and takes in the scene around him before turning his attention to Evan "you did this?" Asks Barty
Evan smiles and nods "do you like it?" Asks Evan
"I love it" Barty replies "and I love you" Barty continues, pulling Evan down on the bed, making Evan laugh as Barty showers him in kisses, only making Evan laugh harder.
The two boys lay on the bed, breathless from their giggles, simply looking at one another, and the moment feels so peaceful, so serene, Evan wants to live in it forever.
"I brought up bacon sandwiches, and then you can open your presents" Evan says and Barty grins
"You are perfect, do you know that?" Asks Barty and Evan grins, shaking his head as he reaches for the bacon sandwiches.
The two of them eat in a comfortable silence, neither of them feeling obligated to talk, both of them just enjoying one another's company. Evan must admit, though, he's far too excited to give Barty his presents than he is about the bacon sandwiches, so really, he's just waiting for breakfast to be over and done with so that Barty can open the presents Evan got him.
Finally, the two of them finish up breakfast and immediately, Evan hands Barty his first present, the smallest one of the three, but it's one of Evan's favourites.
Barty looks up at Evan before he starts tearing into the wrapping paper and is met with a purple velvet box. Barty wastes no time in opening the box, before he pulls out a card.
"A chocolate frog card?" Asks Barty
"Look at it" Evan replies
Barty looks at the card and beams at Evan. On the card is a picture Moyra Schitt took of them at their wedding, in the picture they're kissing, and then they're smiling at each other as though they were the only two people in the world and underneath the picture it reads: 'Till Death Do Us Part'
