Luckily, their heats didn't last more for three days- which, according to Seungmin, was about the normal amount.
Hyunjin only had to stay with them for the first two days, because by the third day they finally were in their right mind enough for them to stop clinging to him posessively (and growling when anyone else came near him.) They had let go of him with small apologies for their manhandling and Hyunjin had just reassured that it was okay.
He remembered Chan fruitlessly trying to talk them into letting him go a few times when he needed to use the restroom or for Jeongin to enter the room to give them food with actual sustenance. In the end, Hyunjin didn't have any time for himself.
Hyunjin ended up leaving Sunday morning, giving him an entire day to finish his major grade that would be presented the next morning.
Easy, he could do that.
Plus- he figured he has overstayed his welcome when they started to shoot puppy eyes for Chan to enter their nest, and Hyunjin severely doubted that he wanted to stay for the next part. Whatever that may be.
Minho had walked him home with even more food to leave behind because as soon as he looked at Hyunjin with those observant eyes- he knew that Hyunjin would be pulling an all nighter to finish his art portfolio. "Thanks," he said once Hyunjin was at his doorstep (the door that worked perfectly ever since Chan fixed it.) Minho transferred the bag of food to his hands, "you didn't have to stay, but you did. I appreciate it."
It was probably the most heartfelt thing that Hyunjin had ever heard from Minho, especially when making eye contact with him. So when he left, Hyunjin just watched him like an idiot, unsure of what to say, clutching the bag of food to his chest lamely.
So Hyunjin stayed up all night with the bag of food at his side, completing the finishing touches on his admittedly good artwork. He was proud of what he had managed to pull together and even planned to gift some of the artwork to the other seven once it was graded and done.
Unfortunately, class the next day went a lot worse than Hyunjin could have ever anticipated.
Art portfolio grading dictated that all of the art majors (a whole whopping five of them) would set up their work in separate parts of the room like an art exhibit.
Hyunjin didn't arrive as early as the others, since apparently they had all grabbed coffee beforehand and already set up shop, so Hyunjin took the space in the far corner of the room where the stained glass above their heads slightly distorted. It only affected the lighting on his pieces a little, so he didn't mind, not bothering to talk to the other majors as he focused on situating his canvases just right.
Instead of taking their seats like they normally would when the professor entered the room, they all stood up even straighter by their canvases, and because it was more customary for Hyunjin, he bowed slightly.
As soon as the spindly entered, the oak doors closing behind him with a deafening thud, he paused to sniff the air in a way that reminded Hyunjin of the way that Chan often did. To Hyunjin's confusion, the man's eyes locked directly on him, and instead of stopping at his podium like he normally did, he made a beeline right to Hyunjin.
Hyunjin, unsure of what to do with everyone's eyes on him, shuffled backwards uneasily until he was backed up against the obsidian pillar behind him, the nearest canvas almost toppling over with the movement.
"Sir?" He asked, angling his head to look upwards at the much too pale skin of his professor as he stared right back down at him with darkness swirling in his eyes. He opened his mouth to say something again over the silence, but was interrupted by his professor finally listing out of his space with a disgusted look on his face. Like Hyunjin was just mere trash sitting in his fancy mansion that the maid forgot to take out.
