As soon as class started again, Hyunjin was automatically buried to his nose with school work. Luckily, his more intellectual classes actually gave students the week off with the storm- all except for art.
And apparently, Hyunjin was the only one who actually missed the class because when he stepped in after the snow storm, everyone's eyes shot up to him.
He paused and waved awkwardly, because usually he was always the first one there. The professor turned from his podium with a look of disgust, like he had hoped that Hyunjin was still buried under a snow drift somewhere.
"Hwang Hyunjin, you're late."
Hyunjin checked the watch on his wrist in confusion. "I'm early..."
The professor tisked disapprovingly, "not anymore. Apparently you don't read my emails, Monday lectures start thirty minutes early now."
Hyunjin froze, but prevented himself from arguing that he definitely never received an email, and that it was probably against the university rules to change a lecture time so drastically. Arguing would only add fuel to the fire, so he bowed in apology and headed to his normal chair.
"Have a seat. You missed an assignment the past week. It's already late, so it'll be counted against you. I hope that you are working on your self portrait portfolio because it'll be the last chance to raise your grade this semester."
Hyunjin didn't think that he'd ever heard his professor say so many words in the same speech before, and he wished he hadn't because it all sounded like bullshit. The class should have been canceled in the first place due to inclimate weather, but apparently, he was the only one who didn't make it.
(He had tried on Friday morning, but the wolves holding him hostage refused to let him leave when the snow started back up.)
Ajax gave Hyunjin a sympathetic look, even if things were awkward between them and Hyunjin hadn't talked to him for a while- it was nice to see that at least someone in class cared enough to offer their condolences to his grades.
"How am I supposed to do a full portfolio in a week?" Hyunjin stressed to himself later that day, comfortably tucked away on the dens- because that's what they liked Hyunjin to call their home- couch. His favorite blanket was strewn across his shoulders with Felix and Jisung sandwiching either side of him. Ever since he spent the night in their nest, they had been extremely clingy.
"Your professor sounds like an asshole, let's jump him." Minho provided, very unhelpful from his place across the table. He was jotting down numbers in a notebook, and when Hyunjin had asked what they were, he just flatly said 'someone has to do the bills around here.'
Hyunjin sometimes wondered what life would be like if he wasn't a struggling art major.
"You're tugging at your hair, love," Felix pointed out, gently pulling Hyunjin's hands away from his dark locks. Hyunjin immediately stopped his fidgeting. The endearment was nice and made him feel all warm inside, a surefire way to get him to listen when he was spiraling.
"Must be rough," Seungmin blankly sympathized as he thumbed through the page of the old poetry book he liked. It didn't sound sincere but Hyunjin knew it was.
He sighed and leaned back further into the couch, the cushion was so comfortable that he could just take a nap even if it was morning. He didn't have a class on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Hyunjin knew that the others didn't have theirs until later in the day.
Hyunjin, for a moment, thought about becoming a college dropout and learning how to live with nature. "I just don't know how I'm going to do this in time-"
"I know what you need!" Jisung announced, causing Hyunjin to jump in surprise at his abruptness. He didn't even apologize before he continued. "We could all use a snow day!"
