Vox sat at the table with his VoxPad, the screen illuminating the faces of Alastor, Lucifer, Charlie, and Husk as they gathered closely around him. The tension in the air was palpable as they all prepared to face the grim reality of the situation.
"Here we go," Vox said, his fingers hovering over the screen. With a few taps, he pulled up the chat logs, and the group's expressions quickly shifted from anticipation to horror as the messages filled the display.
"Is that...?" Lucifer began, squinting at the screen, his voice faltering.
"Yeah," Vox confirmed, his voice grim. "That's him."
The messages painted a horrifying picture. Finny had been communicating with a twelve-year-old boy, and the content of the conversations was beyond disturbing. As they read through the exchanges, disgust washed over them. The things Finny had suggested and asked the boy to do were horrific, and there was no mistaking the predatory nature of his intentions.
"This is sick!" Husk exclaimed, his anger evident. "How could he even think to say this?"
Charlie's face went pale as she read the messages. The realization hit her hard, each word twisting in her stomach. "He's been living here... in our safe space...," she murmured, her voice trembling. "For weeks."
Unable to bear the weight of the truth any longer, Charlie stumbled away from the table, a wave of nausea crashing over her. "I need to... I need to be right back," she said, her voice shaky as she rushed toward the bathroom.
As soon as she reached the sink, the sickening reality of what they had uncovered overwhelmed her. She leaned over and vomited, feeling the bile rise in her throat, disgusted not only by Finny's actions but also by the thought that he had been allowed to remain in a place they had all called home.
Back at the table, the remaining group sat in silence for a moment, processing the enormity of the situation.
"What do we do now?" Lucifer finally asked, his voice grave as he looked around at his friends, all of them visibly shaken.
Alastor's expression hardened, determination replacing his earlier shock. "We gather evidence and confront him. We can't let him get away with this. Not now, not ever."
"Agreed," Vox said, nodding, his own anger surfacing. "I can dig deeper if we need to. I have contacts that might help us track down the boy's information too."
Lucifer placed a supportive hand on Vox's shoulder. "Thank you for stepping up, Vox. We need to protect everyone here."
As they awaited Charlie's return, the group steeled themselves, ready to take action against the threat Finny posed. The air was thick with resolve; they would ensure justice was served, and the safety of their home restored.
