WITH DRACO STILL HATING HER and her being no closer to killing Dumbledore, Cassiopeia had been slowly losing motivation to complete her task. She never wanted to do it in the first place — become one of the Dark Lord's mindless pawns. The only thing that had pushed her to do it was her family, who would die unless she and Draco would manage to kill their headmaster. But that was slowly becoming less of an incentive.

Cassie accepted that her and Draco's relationship could never be mended after everything she did and he said. There was no doubt that her father was not a good man. His actions had finally caught up to him and he had now been serving a well-deserved sentence — what reason would she have to kill for him? And then her mother, who had disowned her own sister simply because she wanted to marry someone she loved.

What would happen if Cassiopeia decided to marry someone she loved? Someone who truly cared for her, not someone who she would marry only to keep her bloodline pure. Her father would toss her aside, there was no doubt. Draco would shun her like he always did. Bellatrix would personally want Cassie's head. And her mother — would she burn her off the family tree just as she had done with Andromeda?

Cassie had done a lot of thinking.

Cassiopeia felt so much happier in the past few weeks spending all her time with Harry. Their nights by the fireplace had become much more regular and Cassie had traded in her afternoons in the library for late walks around the castle with Harry, the two using his map to stay clear of anyone on patrol.

All her life, Cassie thought she knew what she wanted; to live a life according to how she was raised to be. She was sure now that that was not what she wanted. She wanted to be happy — to be free. To be friends with whoever she chose. To love whoever she wanted. Just like her aunt Andromeda.

Of course, she could never be free. Not anymore. As much as she could ignore her task, it did not change the fact that the mark on her arm meant she was bound forever. She had to make a choice by the end of the year — never have happiness again or be killed. What would be more worth it?

She did not want to bother letting that thought consume her. That would be a problem she would deal with when the time would come. The only thing Cassiopeia let herself be consumed with was spending all the time she may have left with Harry.

Dean took a miserable bite of his breakfast as Cassiopeia patted him pitifully on his shoulder. He had been considerably upset after he had broken up with Ginny.

"I told you it was bound to happen; the two of you argue all the time," said Seamus tactlessly.

"Shut up Seamus," Dean hissed.
