Woken up by the gentle spring breeze, Kirby and Togepi yawned in unison and hopped off the bed. The young trainer prepared for the journey ahead of them.
First, Kirby put on his long pink coat that was appropriate for the moderate and cold temperature of the Popstar Region. Then his matching pink hat with an adorable chibified face, black gloves, black boots, and star pin was put on afterward.
The rookie trainer then packed all the essentials every traveller carries. Extra outdoor wear, a handy Pokedex, healing items, poke balls, and snacks. Lots and lots of snacks. Togepi attempted to help by clumsily bringing Morpho's note.
"...I'm definitely going to keep this... Come on, let's have something to eat! I'm starving!"
The two raced toward the kitchen to prepare their breakfast. Kirby looked through the fridge and began snacking on cut fruit slices.
"Hey, Togepi! Have you ever tried strawberries before? They're really delicious!"
The Spike Ball Pokemon tilted its head and looked at her new trainer holding a couple of berries. The Pokemon gently held one and ate it slowly, before perking up and jumping around with glee.
Kirby was about to open the fridge again for their breakfast, and multiple knocks could be heard from the front entrance.
"Hey! Kirby! Are you there? I brought you sugar-coated strawberry waffles and pineapples from Kawasaki's place!" Parasol called from the door, looking through the peephole on Gooey's shoulders, "Hold still! I think Kirby's about to get the... WOAH-"
As soon as Kirby opened the door, the duo fell backwards and tumbled down the porch's stairs. "Ouch! You okay, Gooey?" Parasol groaned, dusting off her back.
It's a good thing I suggested putting Kirby's Breakfast on the porch before lifting you, Gooey signed.
"Um... Are you two gonna be alright? What made you fall back?" Kirby asked, as he snatched the takeout bag and munched on the waffles.
I think I wobbled a bit... But we should be asking if you're going to be okay, Kirby. You were all alone yesterday and locked the door on us. That's a first.
Gooey then lifted Parasol off the ground and looked back at his neighbour.
The pink trainer sighed as he quickly went inside his house to grab Togepi.
"Well, I wasn't completely alone" Kirby smiled as Togepi giggled, greeting Kirby's two neighbours. "Oh, my stars! Where'd you get this cutie!?" Parasol Dee shouted as Gooey looked at the Pokemon with excitement.
Kirby! That's a rare Pokemon! Gooey exclaimed, going through his Pokedex and showing photos of the Togepi evolution line.
"I kinda guessed because you can't find Togepi around here," Kirby then opened their Pokedex and looked to see where Togepi lived "Or anywhere in the wild from what the Pokedex says. Morpho left her for me,"
If Morpho left that Pokemon for you, did they leave anything else behind? Gooey asked.
Kirby nodded and gave the crumpled sheet of paper to the duo.
"...Battle all the gym leaders? I mean, that sounds fun, but why'd they ask you to do that?" It's a normal thing to ask a new upcoming trainer, Gooey signed.
"But the way Morpho worded their letter... It's like they need Kirby to do this. The keyword is need," Parasol Dee sighed, "You know when your parents need you to get groceries instead of wanting you to get the groceries? It's like that!"
