Two months had passed since the citizens of Mauve Town collaborated in secret to train Kirby's five members to their maximum potential. Of course, Termina knew better than to interact with any mortal and watched the others train from a distance, enjoying the scenery and secretly practising on its own at dusk.
Every day was a gruelling challenge.
Galacta Knight roamed the town at random times of the day, and the citizens sent their most keen members to watch for the ill-tempered Elite Four member. Kirby wore many disguises and enjoyed hiding out in music stores the most. Elline, one time, asked Kirby if he could sing. Which, the whole town found out the kid was incredibly tone-deaf.
A for effort I guess?
After that embarrassing singing moment, Kirby spent his days focusing on hanging out in underground battle arenas. The pink trainer paid close attention to the citizen's recommended strategies to beat each Elite Four member, writing down everything he could before leaving.
Magolor and Adeliene watched on from afar in their well-thought-out disguises, staying in the town in case Galacta Knight confronted Kirby. Luckily, Elline and the citizens were certain the pink trainer was kept a total secret.
Nightfall on the final day of the second month had finally arrived, and Kirby was ready to head out toward the Elite Four member's building at the top of Popstar's famous Rainbow Falls. Elline was at the town's exit, greeting Kirby with a huge hug and tears stinging her face.
"Listen, Kirby, no matter what, don't let Galacta Knight's rage get to your head. You have your ambitions and dreams to follow, "
"I also have to keep my promise... without any regrets,"
"Exactly! You got this, kiddo!" Elline shouted with glee. "Remember to relay my message to Claycia, it's important-"
The citizens suddenly began whispering with intense fear. Galacta Knight opened the gates by force and glared at Kirby.
"... So, I finally found out the truth after all this time..." Galacta seethed with rage and pointed at Kirby, "YOU WERE THE REASON WHY I WAS KEPT AWAY FROM OUR CHAMPION... OR SHOULD I SAY... MORPHO RHOPALOCERA OF THE KALOS REGION!"
The citizens looked to Kirby with concern.
"What on Earth are you talking about, bozo?!" Elline huffed impatiently, threatening Galacta with the raise of her Poke Ball. "You look tired, go to bed like a normal person!-"
"OH NO. I CANNOT REST. NOT AFTER MORPHO KICKED ME OUT OF THE LEAGUE..."
The citizens unanimously held back their smiles and sighs of relief... though they kept neutral expressions or pretended to be shocked and upset.
"Ah! Well, go home then! You're done! Out! You have no legal reign over us anymore!"
"I REFUSE TO LEAVE... ESPECIALLY AFTER LEARNING MORPHO HID THEIR CHILD FROM THE PUBLIC. HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE ADOPTED BY THE MOST NEGLECTFUL CHAMPION IN HISTORY?!"
The pink knight taunted with an irate grin.
Kirby only stood in silence, a sudden new feeling had arisen in his head after learning the news.
"To be honest... I'm confused. I don't know what to say," The pink trainer's eyebrows furrowed with impatience, "I don't need to hear your yelling anymore, so go away-!"
"I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL, KIRBY. YOU WERE THE REASON MORPHO REFUSED TO TALK TO ME AFTER ALL THESE YEARS... DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THEY'VE DONE???"
"NO! BUT I DON'T WANT YOU OF ALL PEOPLE TO TELL ME!" Kirby yelled back. "...But I accept your duel."
An orange butterfly flew over Kirby's head and disappeared into the moonlight.
