Kirby and friends hiked from Marmalade Beaches and reached the tall plains before Skyline Carnivals. As the glowing sun had set, the wondrous carnival lights in the distance glimmered with beauty.
"Oh, my stars! Look how beautiful the city looks! I wonder how many rides are available to the public this time of year?" Parasol Dee questioned.
Thirty-seven! Or so I've heard, Gooey shyly proclaimed.
"How'd you know the answer so quickly?" Kirby asked with his signature curious smile.
Well, I'm a bit of a carnival super fan. One of my old hobbies was watching reviews of these places, hoping my parents would take me one day.
"Well, since we're here, let's go on all the rides! My treat!" Parasol declared with excitement, running toward the steep escalator.
Wait, we have to go up an escalator to the city??? Gooey signed nervously, gazing at the moving staircase.
"Hold on to our hands, Gooey! We promise to keep you safe, okay?"
Thanks, Kirby! You too, Parasol.
The trio was taken upwards, moving toward the city high on the mountains. Catchy melodies suddenly played from the escalator's speakers, slowly improving Gooey's mood. After twenty minutes of waiting, the trio arrived at Skyline Carnival.
They were greeted by the smell of popcorn and neon lights from little shops at the front of the city. The cold air breezed passed the trio as they were greeted by a young trainer in a teal mouse hoodie.
"E-Excuse me? Are you three new to the city?" The young boy shyly called out, waving at Kirby.
"We just got here!" Kirby smiled and nodded.
"Oh, well. Wouldn't it be nice to have a tour guide that showed you around? I know all the best places to get food-"
"Say no more I'm in!" Kirby held out their hand, "My name is Kirby! Nice to meet you!"
"I'm Parasol!"
And I'm Gooey!
"My name's Elfilin! I lived in this city for years, so I know all of the ins and outs-"
Suddenly, the boy's eye twitched. He shook his head and gave a nervous laugh.
"A-ah, the lights are making my head hurt. Say, let's go this way!" Elfilin ran toward the Grand Ferris wheel in the middle of the city.
But the Ferris wheel is the most colourful attraction that will hurt your eyes! What is with this kid? Gooey shook his head.
"Something's not right. Come on, Kirby, we're probably gonna get kidnapped or something-" The pink trainer ran off with Elfilin, holding their hand and skipping down to the middle of the city. "... Really?!"
Gooey and Parasol ran into the crowd of people, sticking close to each other and releasing their Pokemon for safety reasons.
Meanwhile, unknown to the friendly duo, two hooded figures were seen eating sweet candy apples in the alleyways.
"Fantastic, dorks number One, Two, and Three are here!" The hooded figure cackled, "Wonder if I should mess with them again?"
"Oh please, Marx, if you want to be a prosperous criminal, shouldn't you ruin the lives of more significant opponents?" Magolor chuckled.
"You're right, but those three dorks were my old, clingy neighbours. It wouldn't hurt if I taunted them and disappeared into the crowd-"
Magolor covered Marx's mouth and glared down the street. The engineer's yellow eyes glistened with suspicion as he turned to his best friend.
