As Kirby entered the Castle alone, they ignored their surroundings and headed down the grand, ruby-red hallway. Kirby would have been caught right away, had it not been dinner time. The Waddle Dee Guards were all too busy in the kitchen and running around in Dedede's throne room.
Eventually, the pink trainer found Bandee running off and followed him into a large empty dining room.
The smug paintings hung on the walls certainly gave off a royalty feel, though the pink trainer remained focused on their goal. Kirby quietly closed the door behind him and snuck underneath the table.
The guards rushed in and immediately aligned by the walls. Their rustic spears in one hand and their Pokemon in the other. The room also smelt like fresh food, and Kirby's stomach was beginning to feel peckish. As he was about to head toward the delicious smell, Kirby heard the Pokemon thief talking.
"Gym Leader Dedede! I messed up badly! I-I was minding my business at Green Green Ports, t-then my sister's friend's Pokemon g-got in my way, and I-I wasn't thinking and I took it-"
"Bandee, that's enough," A booming yet sympathetic voice expressed, "You should have known better than to take an outsider's Pokemon... Heck, I'm shocked you stole in the first place. Every grunt except you seem to be okay with thieving from the citizens,"
Kirby held his stomach, desperately trying to stay quiet.
"I know! B-but I saw my sister! And there's no way I'd let her know I was part of the Waddle Dee crew, she'd be furious! I know my Mom's already disappointed with me, but I can't let my sister down!"
"So, you're ashamed of letting your sister down? That's a serious dilemma, considering she's right outside..." The Gym Leader shut his eyes, "You know Bandee, you can always quit-"
"With all due respect sir, I cannot do that! You are the only adult who took me seriously! I'm not going back to that lousy trainer school my Mom sent me to!" Bandee asserted, standing tall and looking directly into his boss' eyes.
"That's why he's our admin," Grunt Three whispered.
"Shy, but determined," Grunt Fifteen commented calmly.
"Plus he's the only one who can look the boss in the eyes! None of us can do that! Not even if we're pissed off!" Grunt Forty said, but slightly louder.
By this time, the evening strolled by, with the castle's indoor lights turning on and the room smelling even more like a feast. Seared meats, grilled fish, baked potatoes...
All too irresistible!
As the royal red curtains closed, the Guards allowed the Chefs inside the room and Kirby's stomach began to grumble.
"Did you hear that?" A guard wondered.
"Must've been the wind" Another guard replied as Kirby tried their best to keep their stomach from grumbling.
Why did I do this? The pink trainer wondered as they gripped onto the table's framing.
The chefs on roller skates brought in the main courses on silver platters. There was a variety spread this evening, with food so delightful, it was almost too good to eat!
Kirby's stomach growled much louder, detecting the irresistible aroma of strawberry cake and Metamato Soup.
"Woah, Bandee, are you this stressed? Your stomach's growling almost as loud as mine!" Dedede said with concern as he set his fork and knife down.
"That was not me sir! Guards, was it any of you?"
Bandee got up from his seat. The Guards lined up side by side and shook their heads.
