... March 28th – Los Angeles ...

Max's POV

Renee is feeling much better. We will leave for Europe in less than a month.

We're walking through this cute little market close to our house, one of those pop-up spots that only shows up on Sundays. It's nestled between two small streets full of trees. It smells like a mix of fresh baked bread because of the bakery stand and lavender from the soap one. 've always loved this place—the colors, the people, the little stalls selling just anything. It feels so alive.

Renee's hand is wrapped around mine, and even though we're just strolling through the market.

She stops every now and then, pulling me toward some booth to look at what they're selling. The way she lights up at the simplest things, it's infectious. I can't help but smile.

She's wearing one of my favorite outfits, even if she looks good in the most ridiculous clothing. A long yellow skirt and a large black shirt with a belt. Very similar to her outfit for the Austin City Limits music Festival in October 2024. The fabric of her skirt was swaying around her knees as she walked. She has put a leather jacket on top of her outfit since it was still March and despite the sun, the air was still chilly. Her blonde hair was in a messy bun, some loose strands falling from it in the best way possible. Her cheeks are flushed, either from the cold air stinging her skin little or from the excitement — probably both

"Hey, look at this," I said, tugging her toward a little booth selling hand-carved wooden sculpture. I pick up a wooden snowflake, holding it up to her with a grin "Isn't it cute? "

Hearing no answers from Renee I turn my head to see her, eyes wide open.

"There is a baby there is a baby there is a baby I'm gonna steal it !"

We actually never talked seriously about how we saw life in the future. I'm pretty she wants kids. I want kids too but still, we need to talk about it.

"sorry what were you saying ?"

"hm –" I can't think, all I have in my mind is if Renee would ever want to have kids with me... Is it too soon to think about that ? I think I want that ...I can clearly see a future with her but is she thinking the same about me ?

Renee's POV

That baby we just passed was so cute! I don't know what it is, but every time I see a baby, it just makes me want one even more. Like, seriously, I can't help but imagine a little Max running around everywhere. The thought of a tiny version of her, with those dark curls and those bright eyes—it's just... perfect. I can see it so clearly, even though we've never really talked about it.

"I was — showing you the snowflake in carved wood. It's cute right ?"

I blink, looking down at what she's pointing at. She's right, it is cute

"Very cute," I laugh. "But you know we don't need another random thing for the house, right?"

Max pouts dramatically, sticking out her bottom lip in that way she knows always gets to me. God, she's adorable. I bite back a grin, resisting the urge to lean in and kiss it. "Come on, it's for the shelf in the living room."
