'He kissed me,' is on repeat in my head as I run back towards our house 'he was my first kiss.' I've only known Trent for 2 days, and he's already kissed me, but hey- I'm not complaining.
I make it to our house- out of breath I burst into the house making Alan and Austin jump.

"Are you okay?" Says Alan getting up off the couch and walking towards me,

"He kissed me-" I manage to say through gasping for breath,

"Trent!?" Says Alan and Austin at the same time.

I nod and say "he had to leave, there's zombies coming,"

Austin and Alan look at each other,
"They'll handle it, it'd only be a few right?" Says Alan looking concerned,

"It's more than a few isn't it," says Austin looking pale,

I nod and go to get a drink of water. Alan's sitting back on the couch and Austin's pacing with his hands behind his head.

"They'll handle it," I say putting the glass in the sink, "they have plenty of soldiers and weapons."
I say that to sound like I'm calm, but on the inside I'm panicking.

"Trent's out there," I say,
"He better come back to me," I say walking up stairs leaving the boys downstairs.

I sit on my bed and look out the window and watch as solider's run past on their way to the main building, there's scared kids crying and family members pleading for their sons not to go- it's like they know they're going out on a mission that's extremely dangerous and they might not come back. A tear slips down my cheek and I brush it away but to no avail as others fall, and I crawl into a ball and sob.

Knock knock
"Come in" I say, looking up from my ball to see Austin standing in the door way, he comes over and sits next to me.

"He'll come back to you," he says hugging me, I try to hold the tears in back I just couldn't help but cry into his shoulder, "did he buy this for you?" Says Austin inspecting the bracelet,
I wipe away the tears and pull away from Austin,

"at the market," I say

"Do you want to come downstairs with me and Alan and eat chocolate?" Asks Austin standing up, but I tug him back down onto my bed and he sits up the front of my bed against the pillows and I fall asleep with my head on his lap while he plays with my hair.

*some hours later*

I wake up to find Austin had left and tucked me into bed and left a bar of chocolate on the bedside table, I reach for the chocolate when an announcement comes across the speakers, 'a practice protocol for an emergency is being run in 1 minute, please stay in doors.' But by the tone of his voice it is more than a practice, something has gone wrong, his breathing was quick and he talked way too fast that I could only just understand what he said.
I run out of my room and I meet Austin half way down the stairs and he gives me a 'something is wrong' glare, but there's something else in his eyes, fear? Sadness? No, he's hiding something from me.

"We need to hide," says Austin just as Alan comes up behind him with toilet paper stuck on his foot which he's trying to shake off and run at the same time.

"I have a view of the zone, we'll hide in my room." I say letting Austin pass me and waiting for Alan,

"Is everything okay with Austin?" I say to Alan, he looks puzzled,

"That I know of yes," he says cocking his head to the left slightly, "what is it?" He asks,

"He's hiding something from me, I can see it in his eyes," I look over at Alan and he's looking at me as if I'm going crazy, "he doesn't look me in the eye properly- never for more than a few seconds," I say

"I think you're just scared and worried for Trent that it's getting to your head, come on," he says pushing me up the stairs towards my room, why doesn't he believe me? He's acting just like my dad.

I sit on the bed next to Austin and look out the window while Alan closes and locks the door behind us.
"I don't see anyone, not even solider's," says Austin still looking out the window.

An hour passes and Austin is none stop checking his phone, and I'm getting restless. We haven't been told anything over the speakers that are built in around the safe zone- we haven't seen anyone or any solider's, and I've just about had enough when the speakers come on, 'I'm sorry for the long wait, just a little longer and-' it cuts off, I stare at Austin and Alan, absolutely terrified when the speakers come back on- but instead of a mans voice there's a horrible scream- and I know that yell- mimicking zombies.. And they're inside the safe zone, inside the main house, inside our home.

I was scaring myself writing the last part lmao. I love zombies but just imaging knowing that there's an intelligent zombie inside a confined area freaks me out.
