Day 43

"Nori, nori can you hear me?" I hear a voice say, but my hearing is all messed up and I can't make out who's talking to me,

"Guys she's awake!" I hear the person say, when I realise it's Alan.

"A-Alan" I mumble, my voice raspy,

"Shhh, don't talk," he says, "get me a drink of water."

"What happened?" I say, my throat parched so it comes out as a whisper.

"You fainted, now drink this."

"She's not bitten, how does this happen?" Says Trent and I hear him pacing beside me,

"She's dehydrated and drained of energy," says Austin leaning down next to me, and I open my eyes and I'm blinded by a bright light.

I groan and cover my eyes, where the hell am I? Last thing I remember was that we were walking in the dark and suddenly I felt like shit.

"Here," says Austin putting his arm underneath me and lifting me up,

"Put some bags underneath her," he says laying me back down and I'm propped up by some bags against a wall, and I open my eyes once again and this time I'm not blinded by a bright light.
I look around and see that we're camped under a bridge and there's a burnt out fire a few metres away from me.

"How far are we from the train station?" I say shuffling upwards so I'm more comfortable,

"Well, Trent carried you for a while before we decided to stop here, I'm not sure how far we are but we're a while away," says Austin and Trent smiles down at me,

"Here, eat this," and he hands me some meat on a stick?

"It's rabbit," he says laughing at my facial expression,

"I've uh, never had rabbit before," I say taking the hunk of meat off Trent and looking at it odly,

"Well you don't know what you're missing out on, it's devine."

I smell it, it kinda smells like beef? I take a bite and it's hard to explain what it tastes like, but the texture is a bit like over cooked streak.

"Oh, yeah I've never cooked rabbit before," says Trent "it's a bit tough."

"Still yummy," I say taking another bite and he smiles happily down at me.

"okay, so on this map it says that we're pretty close to a town, if I'm correct," says Alan holding a map infront on him. And you know how older people have to hold pieces of paper far away from them to be able to see what it says? Yeah that's what Alan's doing.

"Give it here," I say chuckling and he passes it to me and Austin starts giggling, but I soon pass it back because I'm just as hopeless as Alan.

"Are you okay to start walking?" Asks Austin,

"You bet," I say standing up, having a quick dizzy moment then coming right, that rabbit sure has filled me up.

"So, who caught the rabbit?" I ask,

"I did," says Trent, "I used to go hunting with my dad."

Well, that kinda darkened the mood, since his parents are most likely dead.

"Well, we better get going." says Trent, and we start the march towards this apparent town we're close to.
I must've been out for a while, because the sun is almost in the middle of the sky, it must be about 11am.

*an hour later*

"Hey, I see buildings!" Says Alan whose 10 metres in front of us,

"Looks like he can read maps after all," I say giggling and Trent and Austin also chuckle.

"What did you say?" Says Alan turning around and squinting his eyes,

"Nothing princess," I reply

"I'll get you back girl," he says and we pick up the pace to catch up to him.

"Looks to be an old abounded town," I say. There's just one long street, and buildings squished next to each other like books on a shelf, but there's also wooden hand calves stakes which are propped up in our direction, and there's a few walkers stuck in them too.

"Looks like someone is already here," says Trent,

"Let's hope they don't mind us here." I say looking at the windows in the buildings feeling uneasy and as if we're being watched.
