"HAVE you noticed anything weird about Cassie?" Maddy asked Sevyn.
Sevyn furrowed her brows, continuing to drive with one hand on the wheel and the other on Maddy's thigh.
"You've been sayin' this weird word a lot lately baby." The curly haired girl sighed.
It was another early morning and they were on their way to school once again.
"No I haven't." Maddy scoffed.
Sevyn pressed her foot on the break softly, causing the car to jerk lightly.
"That's bullshit. You said my nose looked 'weird' last night."
"Because it looked a lil crooked, are you sure Fez didn't crack it?"
Sevyn pushed her lips together, trying not to laugh at Maddy's dumb reference to Nate's face.
"No. Why the fuck would he do that?"
Maddy rolled her eyes and opened her mini compact mirror in her backpack.
"Baby just drive."
Sevyn shrugged. "I stand corrected."
The truth was that Cassie was acting a little more than weird, it was like she was spiraling out of control and the only way Nate got her to shut up was promising to meet up with her during the weekend.
Carrying the guilt of sleeping with your best friend's abusive ex boyfriend was weighing Cassie down, and knowing what Maddy is capable of scared her.
But Nate also told her something that totally freaked her out.
"If Maddy finds out, she's gonna spend the rest of my life trying to kill me." Nate rasped over the phone.
Cassie wiped the tears that fell down her rosy cheeks.
"I know."
"But she'll actually kill you...Sevyn too."
Sevyn had witnessed most of Maddy's fights throughout the time they went to school together and she couldn't admit that she wasnt scared of rubbing her the wrong way.
The thought of even cheating on her girlfriend never crossed Sevyn's mind.
But Cassie remembered hearing the stories of how Zero and Fez had beaten Nate back in the day for messing with Sevyn, and now that was Maddy's girlfriend the whole family would come for her.
"She looked at you weird, how?" Sevyn closed her locker, facing Maddy.
Maddy was now standing in her cheer uniform with her arms crossed. "She just did baby, if you would've seen it you would've agreed with me."
Sevyn sighed. "Maybe she's just goin' through some shit ma, and you gotta remember she witnessed my brother beating the shit out of Nate. I'd be scared too based off how he looked getting dragged outside."
