Chapter 18: Selling Yourself

"Things will be different with me." Zhai Muyang tried his best to sell himself, completely abandoning his usual cool and arrogant demeanor. "First of all, I am handsome. Your classmates, especially the girls, will envy you for having a handsome brother. I have plenty of time, and you can always come to me to talk when you're feeling down. I have complete freedom, and I can be there for you whenever you need me. Additionally, I have experience, knowledge, and have been through complex situations, while you are just in your teens with a long road ahead of you. I am willing to be your life mentor."

As Zhai Muyang continued, he felt that his decision was absolutely right, speaking more fluently. "Moreover, I am a man who understands the thoughts of men. If you have a boyfriend in the future, I can understand him from a man's perspective and see if he is trustworthy. I can protect you from being deceived. You have to trust me, men can be very bad."

Miao Zhiruo wanted to say, "Is this your own experience talking?" but seeing that he continued, she had to keep her thoughts to herself.

"I also have good skills. If someone bullies you, I can beat them so badly they won't recognize themselves. If you don't want unwanted attention, you can walk arm in arm with me and tell them I am your boyfriend, showing them to back off. I really want to be your big brother, can you consider it?"

Song Yimo had not spoken yet, while Miao Zhiruo, who was sitting beside her, muttering to herself, "I want such a brother."

Zhai Muyang turned to her with a smile, "Yimo's friends are also my little sisters."

Miao Zhiruo just smiled, not trying to take advantage, just looking at Yimo. She wasn't the type to grab anything good in sight!

She felt too proud. Hmph!

Song Yimo was not one to overlook good people or things; on the contrary, she recognized them well. Because she recognized them, she felt Zhai Muyang's sincerity.

But, despite saying so much, Zhai didn't mention the most obvious and important point: he was wealthy. His car alone, she remembered, cost seven figures.

Seven figures were still a lot of money at this time.

Big Brother Zhai didn't use his wealth to entice her; instead, he appealed to her with psychology, making her feel the benefits of having a protective and strong brother that every girl her age would desire.

"Big Brother Zhai knows how to charm people."

"Did his charm work on you?"

Song Yimo nodded honestly.

"So, have you agreed?"

However, Song Yimo shook her head. "Perhaps Big Brother Zhai only thought about this because I helped him out before. It wasn't necessary at all. If Big Brother Zhai comes to Xinghu County again in the future, I will host him as best as I can."

"It's not the case." Zhai Muyang shook his head. "Two months have passed since that incident. If I had made a decision in the heat of the moment, I would have brought it up the first time you called, not two months later. Yimo may not even know how good her character is. After a few encounters, anyone would like and want to be close to Yimo. My environment is not very good, and my experiences growing up were not pleasant. In my eyes, her character is especially valuable."

Miao Zhiruo, a young fan, nodded vigorously, "Yimo seems to have blossomed over the summer break and has become everyone's favorite. My status as her best friend is constantly being challenged."

Song Yimo still didn't want to involve with people with clear differences in status, she said bluntly, "Big Brother Zhai, we are different. A shirt of yours could feed my grandma and me for months, and one pair of your shoes might cost more than my whole budget. Different family backgrounds, different mindsets, different values, different living environments – two people like us can't be long-lasting friends, let alone siblings."

"Are these things important to you? I won't look down on you for not having money, would you feel inferior because I'm wealthier? Or do you want something from me?"

Song Yimo nodded, "I'm afraid I might take shortcuts."

"You won't." Zhai Muyang gently pushed aside her hair from her forehead. "You're not that kind of person. In simpler terms, you only want to use what you've earned yourself. Anything that's not yours, you won't ask for."

Song Yimo pursed her lips, feeling a bit pleased. No one wants to be underestimated, and she was no exception. Zhai Muyang showed her full respect.

It would be too melodramatic to refuse further. Song Yimo's expression softened, "Of course, I would like a brother like you, Big Brother Zhai. But I need to talk to my grandma first. I'm sorry, but I don't like informal relationships like brother-sister privately. Let's make it more formal."

"Of course, that's appropriate. I also want to be formal in being siblings with you." Zhai Muyang was delighted.

Didn't Yimo's approach show how much she valued this relationship?

He didn't just want a sister on a whim; even if Yimo hadn't mentioned it, he would have visited her only living relative in the future.
