Chapter 49: The Feeling of Home
Zhai Muyang tousled her hair, "Have you noticed that even though her son is critically ill and on the brink of death every day, she still puts on makeup, wears high heels, and dresses elegantly. An ordinary person would probably be in tears every day, unable to focus on dressing themselves. What does this show?"
Zhai Muyang looked at Song Yimo who had raised her head, "It shows that she always puts herself first, even though she loves her son, it is because she needs a son to love, nothing more."
"So, am I not needed by her just because of that?"
"You are needed by many people, one less person like her doesn't matter."
Song Yimo thought for a moment and nodded, "Grandma needs me."
"I need you too." Zhai Muyang affectionately pinched her nose, "Talking to you every day is the most relaxing time of my day."
Once again, Song Yimo felt that having a brother was truly wonderful. She nodded vigorously, "I will talk to you on QQ every day from now on."
Zhai Muyang smiled, "That's not necessary, just like before is fine. But I would be happier if you could think of me first when something happens, for example, when grandma was sick, if I hadn't called Uncle Miao and found out, you probably wouldn't have thought that I would worry about you not being online for a long time, let alone thought to inform me."
"It won't happen again."
"Promise?"
Song Yimo reached out her hand, and the two of them hooked their pinkies together and shook them, sealing it with their thumbs.
Zhai Muyang looked at his watch, there was still an hour before the time to board the car, "Driver, please find a place near the station where we can park and sit."
The driver looked back through the rearview mirror, "Okay, I know that area well. There are plenty of good places."
In the end, the two of them settled between a cake shop and a café, and Song Yimo chose the café.
After sitting down and ordering, Zhai Muyang laughed, "I thought you would choose the cake shop, young girls all love that, don't they?"
"I'm not a big fan of sweets." She knew that the chain of that shop was only in big cities, expensive, but the taste was good. However, she didn't have much of a sweet tooth, so it didn't hold much attraction for her.
She didn't particularly like coffee either, but she liked the aroma.
Zhai Muyang promptly asked, "Then what does Yimo like to eat?"
"I like crunchy things, and also like fruits and tea."
"Don't drink too much tea, you're still young, tea can affect your body's absorption of certain things." Although he couldn't say it well, the next sentence was different, "I have a lot of good tea, I'll bring some for you next time."
"Okay." Song Yimo obediently agreed, then defended herself, "I don't drink much, I don't have time to drink while studying, only when I'm doing homework on the computer at night."
Seeing her discipline herself like this, Zhai Muyang naturally couldn't bear to say anything more to her.
Compared to traveling alone, the return journey was much happier.
There was someone to talk to when bored, someone to ask about her well-being, a shoulder to lean on when tired, most importantly, a sense of security.
Song Yimo leaned on Zhai Muyang's shoulder and slept all the way back home, still not fully awake when getting off the car.
