Chapter 194: A Promising Path Ahead

After dealing with the ever-loquacious Chen Xin, Zhang Chuliang noticed Barely Rich was online and decided to send him a quick message.

Zhang Chuliang: The contract’s been exposed.

Barely Rich: they’re trying to find terms to put pressure on me in the contract, it’s no surprise it got leaked.

Zhang Chuliang: They don’t believe I don’t have your number. They want me to convince you to re-sign—for five years.

Barely Rich: Just tell them—there are still two months to go, no rush. I’ll consider it.

Zhang Chuliang chuckled.

Zhang Chuliang: That sounds so formal, they’ll believe it even less.

Barely Rich: That’s not my problem.

This was exactly the attitude Zhang Chuliang was hoping for. He carefully blurred out anything unsuitable for prying eyes, took a screenshot, and sent it off to his manager. Then he meticulously went through his chat history on QQ, erasing anything sensitive.

As expected, it didn’t take long before his manager came over to Zhang Chuliang’s cubicle, demanding a chance to chat directly with Barely Rich. Opening the chat window, he casually scrolled back through their messages under the guise of setting things up, before tapping out a brief greeting: Hello.

Meanwhile, Song Yimo wasn’t at her computer—Zhai Muyang had come over for a rare visit.

“Not busy today, Dage?”

Recently, Zhai Muyang had been leaving early and coming back late, sometimes with a lingering hint of alcohol. Song Yimo knew well that he wasn’t one to enjoy socializing, but there were obligations even he couldn’t avoid.

“I gave myself the day off.” The obvious delight in Song Yimo’s expression brightened Zhai Muyang’s mood. “How’s Shu Xin’s recovery coming along?”

“The doctor says she’s doing really well. Technically, she could be discharged now, but I thought she’d get better care from the doctors and nurses if she stayed a little longer, so there’s no rush to leave.”

"It’s certainly best if she doesn’t have to stay in the hospital. How’s the caregiver—are you happy with her?"

"Yes, she’s great. Very patient and attentive."

"Then have her come to the house for a while. Fewer germs at home than in a hospital."

Zhai Muyang wasn’t superstitious, but he had a practical aversion to the crowded, illness-laden atmosphere of hospitals. He didn’t want Yimo getting sick.

Just as he was speaking, a “ding” sounded from the computer. With a touch of possessiveness, Zhai Muyang leaned in, feigning curiosity. "Is that a friend?"

Song Yimo clicked to open it. "It’s Editor Liang… hmm, this is strange."

"What’s strange?" Zhai Muyang leaned in openly to take a look.

"Liang-ge and I have known each other nearly three years; he wouldn’t speak so stiffly."

The message window showed only two lines: *Hello* and *Why aren’t you responding?* The blunt, questioning tone made Song Yimo frown. Her instincts told her it wasn’t Liang-ge at all.

With this thought, she acted on it. *You’re not Liang-ge. Who are you?*

Zhang Chuliang: This is Chen Wen, General Manager of Sunset Publishing.
