Chapter 188: Appointment Needed to Meet Big Brother

The two of them headed to the living room on the first floor.

Miao Jun and He Yi were tidying up in the yard. They glanced back to say hello but didn’t come inside, leaving Song Yimo feeling a bit embarrassed. “Once again, I’m troubling Dad and Mama Miao.”

“They seem more than happy to help.”

“Well, they don’t have much of a choice, even if they aren’t thrilled,” Song Yimo laughed, pouring a warm glass of water for her. “It’s easy enough to find a teacher during the holidays, but finding someone who can teach them consistently for the whole next semester is tricky. Dad Miao reached out to someone who knows some retired teachers, but we haven’t heard back yet.”

“Retired teachers might not be the best fit,” Xie Fei pointed out. “A lot of the older generation still struggle with standard Mandarin. It’s not ideal for kids who are just adapting—you wouldn’t want them picking up any strange accents.”

Song Yimo looked a bit lost; she hadn’t thought of that.

Xie Fei laughed at her expression. “I have some connections. How about recent graduates from a teaching college?”

“Yes, that’d be perfect!” Song Yimo nodded eagerly. “I want to make sure they learn proper Mandarin so that when they start school in City S, they won’t feel out of place because of an accent.”

Going to school in S City?

Xie Fei didn't ask any more questions, and nodded.

“Two teachers or just one?” Xie Fei asked, picking up on Song Yimo’s plans.

“Two would be ideal, and they need to be patient—preferably two women,” Song Yimo replied, thinking ahead to avoid any potential issues.

“Understood. I’ll make it happen.”

Just then, Fang Zhen and Zhai Muyang wrapped up their conversation and walked over. Song Yimo quickly stood up, greeting, “Fang Dage.”

Fang Zhen chuckled. “You’re going to have plenty on your plate soon enough.”

Song Yimo ran a hand through her hair, smiling but saying nothing.

Fang Zhen and his wife didn’t stay long, but before leaving, they sent over a van full of essentials—rice, flour, cooking oil, along with some toys and snacks. Song Yimo graciously accepted everything and asked the eldest of the kids to call and say thank you.

Watching all this, Zhe Ji felt entirely at ease. Song Yimo had a genuine heart, and no wonder Zhou Qing had said that if Song Yimo agreed to take them in, these kids would finally have a chance to flourish.

Noticing Zhe Ji’s thoughtful silence, Song Yimo walked over and asked, “How long can you stay here, Zhe Ji Dage?”

“I plan to stay until they feel fully secure,” he replied.

“Oh, you’ve misunderstood—I’m not trying to rush you away. I actually want you to stay,” Song Yimo said, smiling. “I’m just worried you might have obligations at home. Having you here would put everyone more at ease.”

Zhe Ji understood her intentions. Zhou Qing had already hinted on the journey over that he wanted to bring him into the security team. Zhe Ji had only been out of the military for a year; his skills were still sharp, and he knew the boss would want him onboard.

This was certainly a promising opportunity for him; Zhou Qing earned quite a bit every year, far more than he ever could staying in Zang City.

But of course, that all depended on whether the boss wanted him.
