Chapter 189: Daily Life of The Siblings, Part 7

But Song Yimo still wanted to surprise her big brother.

After a moment’s thought, she asked, “Do I need an appointment to meet Assistant Zhou?”

The two receptionists exchanged glances. “There’s no Assistant Zhou working here.”

Assistant Zhou was her brother's aide—how could he just not exist?

She’d just seen him recently!

A bit bewildered, Song Yimo dialed Zhou Xin’s number.

Zhou Xin was in the middle of briefing the rarely-visiting company head when his phone rang. He was about to silence it instinctively, but when he saw the caller ID, he quickly picked up and put it on speaker.

“Miss Song?”

Zhai Muyang looked up.

“Zhou-ge, are you at the office?”

“I am.”

“And is the company on the twenty-eighth floor of the International Plaza?”

Both men were sharp-witted. Hearing her question, they instantly knew where she was. Zhai Muyang strode toward the door, with Zhou Xin hurrying behind him, replying, “That’s right, the twenty-eighth floor.”

“The receptionist says I need an appointment to see my brother, and they don’t have any Assistant Zhou on record. How am I supposed to get in?”

Her voice carried such a hint of grievance that it tugged at their hearts. Zhou Xin instinctively softened his tone, coaxing her gently, “Just wait there; I’ll come down and get you right away.”

Song Yimo wanted to say not to alert her brother, but before she could, the line had already gone dead. Smiling politely at the receptionist, she stepped outside to wait.

The receptionists, keenly perceptive, noticed there was some kind of connection between this young woman and Manager Zhou, even if they didn’t know exactly what. After a quick whisper to each other, one stepped forward and said, “Miss, please wait inside; it’s no trouble at all.”

Song Yimo, feeling slightly embarrassed, took a few steps further in, a flush of discomfort washing over her.

Thankfully, her discomfort didn’t last long. A moment later, with a soft ding, the elevator doors opened, and out stepped Zhai Muyang, followed closely by Zhou Xin.

Song Yimo blinked in surprise—she’d wanted to surprise him…

“Why didn’t you call before coming? Weren’t you with Zhiruo at her military medical exam? Did Uncle Miao drop you off?”

As he spoke, Zhai Muyang lifted her sleeve, noticing the goosebumps on her arm. “Do you have a jacket in your bag? The office’s air conditioning is pretty high.”

“No, I didn’t bring one. Zhiruo went to the Armed Police General Hospital for her check-up, so I thought I’d stop by to visit your office while passing through.”

He nodded, pulling her gently into the elevator. Turning to the visibly nervous receptionists, he stated, “This is my younger sister, Song Yimo. She has access to every part of Yuanyang Group, and she doesn’t need an appointment to see anyone here.”

“Yes, sir,” they responded.

Once the elevator doors closed, Song Yimo murmured, “Dage, I’m sorry for showing up like this. They were only doing their jobs.”

“I’m not upset with them.” He was more upset with himself; if he’d informed the staff earlier, she wouldn’t have been turned away. Knowing how easily embarrassed she was, he could only imagine her awkwardness at being stopped.
